The best way to upgrade your mask is to upgrade fit! #MaskFitters like the #EssentialMaskBrace can more than double mask performance. Learn more at https://t.co/vP8NjPp5hM
I hate to tell you this, but you need to step up your pandemic precautions, upgrade your mask, and reduce potential exposures. More contagious variants are here, and one of them in particular is moving fast.https://t.co/2jGtqevwcV
11. If you have brought lots of earloop masks and can't afford to buy proper headstrap respirators, you can always get a “mаsk brace” to improve the fit of KF94/KN95s (which are effectively the same as surgical mаsks on~90% of people). @FixTheMask
@NoOffPosition@DrAliSKhan @NIOSH_NPPTL 🙋♀️ We're the team behind the initial rubber band design! We've been thinking about a lot since this study was first conducted in 2020, including a more robust brace design. Check out https://t.co/vP8NjPp5hM to learn more.
@YouAreLobbyLud@AlboMP Dear inventors: I'd also like a simple device that can be worn around a KN95 or similar and pull the margins close onto the skin. You would sell thousands. Please do it.
19/ If only surgical masks are available, they can be made A LOT safer w/ inexpensive brace like @FixTheMask (probably cheaper than the often mandated face shields that are probably wasting $$ in Philippines). Helps a lot in leak tests
Can make your own: https://t.co/O5mgUrjqa1
"One way to significantly improve the seal and fit of your surgical mask is to use a mask brace or mask fitter. [...]
Studies show that these devices dramatically improve the filtration efficiency of surgical masks."
Thanks for the shoutout @CNET! @FixTheMask means #BetterMasks
📣 Back in stock!
We briefly had some of our bundles listed as out of stock on our store yesterday, in case you tried to order and couldn't, head to https://t.co/vP8NjPp5hM!
@caruzycki @CPita3@FixTheMask@armbrust_usa@masknerd tested Armbrust & 8 other surgicals with FixTheMask; Armbrust, MaskLab and Zubrex passed the N95 standard, the rest did not. https://t.co/WsDe7Mpi9i
What's frustrating about the masks issue-- if the head of the CDC is still saying that respirators are too uncomfortable for most people (again, not true; some models may be, others not), shouldn't a big priority be to solve this rather than rely on it as a reason for inaction?
So proud that @covidStr8Talk has featured our original rubber band hack on their list of hacks and guides. Improving mask fit is critical, but it doesn't have to be expensive.

"Surgical masks can still work really well with a mask fitter [i.e., a frame or brace that is worn over the mask, ensuring an improved fit]"
Mask fitters are the easiest way to make any mask a #BetterMask
Great interview @AbraarKaran! Exactly what CDC ought to be saying but instead recently on PBS CDC director recommended “two-layer cotton masks” w/o electrostatic filters. Yet Dr. Fauci + @CDCDirector were on TV the other day w/ @POTUS wearing N95. https://t.co/mENNk2kcP7
Omicron has heightened the need for a high filtration mask that fits tightly. W/surgical, there's often a gap. Reminds me of this Bay Area sisters' invention
@FixTheMask that provides an effective fix! https://t.co/OuRqPEopVp
@AndrewCheung88 First, we haven't seen a sizing protocol for KN95s or KF94s, if you know of one please send it our way!
Second, the KN95 we used only came in one size. We had our all our subjects use a Large KF94 because that size mask shifts less during the exercises. i.e. they fit better.
The best time to upgrade mask fit was March 2020.
With #omicron on the way, the second best time is now.
If you can't find an N95, KN95, or KF94 that works for you, mask braces are another #BetterMask option to consider. Go to https://t.co/vP8NjPp5hM for more info.
If you don’t already own a good 😷 (N95/KN95/KF94) that fits well & is comfy enough to keep on, get off Twitter NOW & buy some. Non-profit @projectn95 is affordable, helpful, & vetted. Until you get them, surgical 😷 + cloth 😷 over it indoors in public immediately. #Omicron
