The drug user fee program for new animal drugs is about to expire (ADUFA). In the reauthorization Congress must include protections from the threat of #AntibioticResistance resulting from the overuse of animal drugs. See blog from @NRDC@Food_Dr https://t.co/fOwf5F99qJ
U.S. beef and pork industries are using antibiotics less, not more wisely -- at least since 2017. As my colleague blogged, Big Beef's customers like @mcdonald's must do better, as well. https://t.co/hl7jz4yZyM…
After rising for 2 straight years, sales of human antibiotics for use in U.S. livestock are nearly double those used in human patients. https://t.co/qEMOuQV4yK
Sales for U.S. pigs and cattle are the reason for the overall rise. Pig sales alone are up 28% since 2017. Cattle are up 8%. @Food_Dr#AAW2021 https://t.co/qEMOuQV4yK
No wonder U.S. pork and beef producers are using more, not less, antibiotics -- their biggest customers, like @McDonalds aren't holding them accountable!
This @MPR story actually has a much rosier take on the @EPA's weak roadmap on #PFAS forever chemicals, made by DuPont and #3M. Here's the @NRDC press release on why it's a weak plan https://t.co/PStzJ9aPi4
“The worst time in the world we want to shut down the government is in the middle of a pandemic where we have 140,000 people a day getting infected and 2,000 people a day dying.” — Anthony Fauci. https://t.co/q5UDEeNSuD
Net farm income is worthless, unless the USDA tells us who's getting that income, and who isn't. The decades-long trend is that fewer and fewer "successful" farmers get it, often at the expense of smaller, typically more sustainable farmers.
