Greetings, friends!
An update directly from Peter Biar Ajak. He was released by the government in January and he wishes to share a few words to all those who supported him and his family during his detention.
If this were true, @AjakPeter wouldn't be detained without charge.
It's been 6 months.
And if @PresSalva cared about #SouthSudan's future, he'd release anyone detained for their political views.
It's time to #FreePeterBiar. Sign the petition: https://t.co/EgUv9OnyVK
Friends of @AjakPeter: Peter urgently needs access to medical care. Pres. Kiir signed a peace treaty & agreed to release all political prisoners but Peter remains in detention. Tell @RepSouthSudan & #SouthSudan govt to #FreePeterBiar & all other unlawfully detained citizens!

We wish our dear Peter Biar Ajak well on his birthday. Unfortunately, instead of celebrating his 35th birthday with his family and friends, he remains detained unlawfully without charge as a political prisoner.
Since then Peter and the other civilians detained unlawfully have no been granted access to their legal counsel, visitation with family, or access to proper medical services or nutrition.
Amb. Jonathan Cohen expressed continued concern about @AjakPeter unconstitutional detention at the U.N. Security Council briefing. Thank you @ScholarsAtRisk for shining a light on this grave injustice. #FreePeterBiar now! Take action by clicking here: https://t.co/4IFr3a34UT
Ambassador Jonathan Cohen @USUN expressed concern over the detention of @Cambridge_Uni PhD student #PeterBiarAjak in #SouthSudan https://t.co/47gCLnyHlS Take action and demand his immediate release now! https://t.co/vtMMx0zZ08
Given worrying reports about the deteriorating health of Mr Peter Biar Ajak, we call on the authorities to provide urgent medical care. Deliberately depriving prisoners of adequate medical care is a life-threatening form of torture. @unmissmedia@igadsecretariat@FreePeterBiar
Peter Biar Ajak has now been in detention for 89 days without charge. He currently has no access to his lawyers or his family. This is a gross violation not only of his human rights, but of South Sudan's recent peace agreement. Amlive panel discusses https://t.co/D6uUcmPm5S
We understand the standoff has been resolved. Peter has not been released. We are awaiting confirmation on his condition and remain concerned. #FreePeterBiar unharmed.
UPDATE: We have no verification that @AjakPeter has been released. As soon as we have any additional information, we will update everyone here. #FreePeterBiar
@hysperbole@AjakPeter@unmissmedia We have no evidence to show that the situation is resolved at this time. We are in touch with people on the ground in #SouthSudan. As soon as we have more information, we will issue an update.
Unfolding at the Blue House: @AjakPeter is unarmed with other civilians. He hopes that #SouthSudan gov’t can resolve by negotiating with those who resorted to armed protest. @UNmissmedia please intervene and mediate. #FreePeterBiar https://t.co/qfaGiL2RXv
