On Sunday working we will take the final after reading bank official communication on this .so wait till then .we will keep you updated on this basically we are not in favour of Sunday working and we have made our position clear to UFBU issue on this and in order to protect our members right we may consider going out of ufbu on this crucial issue .we are also waiting for what compensation management offers us in lieu of Sunday working because present compensation of rs 1800 to 2925 is grossly inadequate.

UFBU must explore into Legality of Sunday Working, Coz even Banks advised by RBI to adhere the relavant Legal requirement before opening Branches.

In our considered opinion neither RBI nor Bank management has power to open branches for general banking transactions on Sunday which is a public holiday under NI ACT.
That power rests with the central government and governors through gazette notification which has not been done yet .
So wait for further developments on this crucial issue of Sunday working.

Lot of Branches opearting in Markets, Places which remain Closed on Sundays. Opening Branch in such Isolated and deserted conditions is a BIG Security Risk. If any thing goes wrong, responsibility will be with Finance Minister. Hope they are Ready to defend it.

Neither section 35 nor 35 A of banking regulation act 1949 empowers RBI to give directions to banks to open on public holiday declared under NI ACT .

Please provide copy of relevant statuatory provision which empowers RBI to permit public sector banks to open branches on Sunday which is a public holiday under NI ACT section 25 .
