I teach my kids from about age 3 to come put their hand on my arm or leg if they want to speak to me while I’m speaking to another person. I then put my hand over theirs to show them I see them and I’ll get to them soon. Manners are so important to instill young.
When you graduate from the U.S. Army or Air Force, you can't leave your post until a family member touches you.
This young woman went with her daughter so she could touch her father.

People often ask me where to source psychedelics. As a matter of strict policy I personally _do not_ give people psychedelics myself.
But this is painful because people reach out to me with serious conditions desperate for access. E.g. cluster headache patients.
Here is the thing: if you are in the Bay Area, you can gain access easily.
The Church of Cosmic is an easy and reliable way. You need to sign up to an encrypted database, which sounds scary. But in practice, over the years this group has run they haven't had a single legal issue. One case was brought to court once and immediately dismissed. There are 8,000+ people using this service. At least here this is the lower priority of law enforcement with no money/budget assigned to it.
I personally have talked to a drug dealer who was caught selling large amounts of drugs here (unrelated to the Church). They charged him for selling cocaine and Adderall, and literally left pounds of mushrooms, litters of DMT, kilos of San Pedro powder, and a big bag of weed out of the court case. They didn't even charge him for it or confiscate it. All his legal trouble came from the stimulants (yeah, do not get involved in *that*).
This is not legal advice but it IS a sanity check that the cost/benefit for e.g. someone with cluster headaches in the Bay, accessing a DMT vape pen is very skewed towards positive.
Just wanted to let you all know.
@GaryWinslett We’ll find out! They’ve been told something radically different for many years and it hasn’t been good for them. Telling them to focus on their strengths and ignore the stuff that baffles them might just work.
THIS is an example of high human intelligence and the scale of intelligence we must have in anything we call AGI.
If it looks emotional, that is because IT IS.
And if you do the decades of research I have you will know this is the first principle of high intelligence.
Feel it?
This is why I quit playing most modern FPS games, its not even the re-balance BS. I'll adapt and overcome so long as the game is still fun. Its the low IQ team mates.
COD is so bad its unplayable.
Counter Strike and maybe R6 Siege are the only big (think Triple A) competitive FPS games worth playing. But Siege just added crossplay so the average lobby IQ just dropped 20 points thanks to console players.
i have had the strangest experience reading this: i assume its all fake/bots, even though in this case i know codex growth is really strong and the trend here is real.
i think there are a bunch of things going on: real people have picked up quirks of LLM-speak, the Extremely Online crowd drifts together in very correlated ways, the hype cycle has a very "it's so over/we're so back" extremism, optimization pressure from social platforms on juicing engagement and the related way that creator monetization works, other companies have astroturfed us so i'm extra sensitive to it, and a bunch more (including probably some bots).
but the net effect is somehow AI twitter/AI reddit feels very fake in a way it really didnt a year or two ago.
@wife2sirhusband You think this universe is the truth? Or that its description can fit in the pages of a Holy book? Too bad. Love is much more than that.
