@Cait76128957 Books are such a powerful tool for teachers to use when teaching #realworldissues. Books can be used to help even the youngest citizens to assume responsibility for creating, enjoying and maintaining a #sustainable future.
@Cait76128957 Hi Cait, this idea was new to me too!
I love your idea of creating flyers, this fosters higher-order thinking skills as well as cross-curriculum learning which engages students' critical thinking as they make connections to different areas of the curriculum. #Bloomstaxonomy
This website is a toolkit for creative #foodwaste ideas.
Vegetable skins are one of the most commonly discarded items during food prep. Why not make the most of this nutrient-rich ingredient that is overlooked and make potato peel nachos? #UoNTeach#SDG12
The scale of the food waste problem is staggering! We all can make a big impact with small changes to reduce wasting food. Pledge today: https://t.co/GDW4T3VXEC #StopFoodWasteDay
@Cait76128957 Absolutely. When used appropriately technology can be a powerful tool to increase student engagement for teaching important topics such as #sustainability.
Check out this video introducing #SDG12 to students! It outlines issues surrounding responsible consumption and production, and ways people are helping around the world?
Would you use this video with your students or would you use another video? #educ4750 https://t.co/0U0IZiUDJt
How do we get students involved in #climatechange? We need to focus on deepening students’ understanding of our physical/social world, give them the chance to get involved in community & value Indigenous knowledge as a way of learning to live more #sustainably. #UoNTeach
@cookinabox is an affordable way to introduce cooking skills to students. Recipes can be linked to NAIDOC Week, Harmony Day, ANZAC Day & #sustainability. The best part is you don't even need a kitchen, how great is that!

@CordaJesse@NoahJWynne@FakesTimothy@Miss_Jess_H @JuneMatthews_ @madigoddard9 Adding to my previous comment, as a future teacher I would not penalise students who skipped school for a climate protest. I would make suitable arrangements for classwork/exams to be completed before or after school.
Students are our future & the world is theirs. When students come together with a shared passion their voices are loud. #Studentstrikes allow them to participate in democracy & develop #globalcitizen skills.
What a great conversation starter to introduce #SDG12. #UoNTeach
@CordaJesse@NoahJWynne@FakesTimothy@Miss_Jess_H @JuneMatthews_ @madigoddard9 This is a tough question! Perhaps I would inspire fellow teachers to engage students in more climate change conversations, projects, and ultimately, action. This would then spread throughout the community. The only downfall is it may not reach the dominant decision-makers.
@CordaJesse@PNNOZ@NicholShari Gardening is a great way to learn new skills, meet new people & collaborate. Collaboration is an element in the #21stcenturyskills framework leading to the development of higher-level thinking & oral communication skills. A great way to foster #21stcenturyskills in the school!
@Hugh10297614@NoahJWynne Thank you for sharing Hugh.
I like how the @plasticsoupfoun website is interactive. It is a great way to bring the class together and start the waste reduction conversation whilst implementing technology.
@FakesTimothy Cooking with students has so many benefits. Cooking naturally promotes #teamwork in children, has strong curriculum links across KLAs & helps develop #criticalthinkingskills & an understanding of the land/communities. You should check out @getkidscooking.

@Miss_Jess_H@dirtgirlworld@CostasGarden I agree. Furthermore, community involvement strengthens the notion of locally and culturally appropriate sustainability solutions & builds networks for learning. It builds a strong sense of place within the community & creates model citizenship. #globallyminded#21stcenturyskills
The great local lunch is a great way to involve the community & showcase students' sustainable kitchen garden. @dirtgirlworld
Schools that foster community-school partnerships show improved student behavior, learning & academic achievement. #UoNTeach

@JuliaBe64274003@CordaJesse @Sandnicoll I absolutely agree with @CordaJesse. Consultation with the local AECG is imperative when embedding Indigenous perspectives within the classroom. I would also build a trusting relationship with local Indigenous families to ensure they are active members in their child's education.
@Miss_Jess_H There is so much information on the web about starting a garden, it can be very daunting. I particularly like the educator resources which can be filtered for your exact purpose. Another great website you could use in your planning is @aaeensw.
