Quite a few schools have their own soft plastic recycling scheme. They develop a roster and have someone take the collected soft plastics to the school’s closest REDcycle drop off point. #SDG12#UoNTeach#EDUC4750
@MissZRay Using the items for visual arts lessons is such a great way to show students first hand how to #reuse when you cant #Recycle But you are correct, we need to educate students about the #reduce part of #ReduceReuseRecycle
For the longest time I thought takeaway coffee cups could be recycled through my yellow bin. Its the same for juice boxes. Id love to get students investigating what we can actually put in our yellow recycle bins. #SDG12#EDUC4750#UoNTeach
@MissZRay@Miss_Jess_H What a great idea, I hadnt thought of farmers markets. Thanks for the suggestion! Some smaller garden nurseries are happy to help with DIY school projects as well
Thanks for sharing @Miss_Jess_H I'm hoping to create a worm farm with my class and can use all the tips you can give. I'd recommend to look into the supports Bunnings offer for these types of projects #SDG12#Educ4750

Coloured pencils made from recycled newspaper, pens made from cardboard and notebooks made from recycled paper @Coles I think I'll get my students to investigate sustainable swaps for everyday products. #SDG12#UoNTeach#Educ4750
Did you know Bunnings conducts school sustainability programs and hands-on support for projects like growing a school garden? Id love to utilise this for a school worm farm #SDG12#EDUC4750#UoNTeach Could this help your school project?
This explains clearly what happens to our plastic after we throw it out. Great to use in the classroom. Useful for those doing #SDG12 or #SDG14#UoNTeach#Educ4750

While most canteen bags are made from paper they aren't reusable. Check out https://t.co/W5Ec5qRAEU -an Aussie business, for reusable lunch bags! It'd be great to have these available for purchase at school canteens. #SDG12#UoNTeach#Educ4750
I like the idea of school canteens using reusable cutlery etc. Offering discounts is a great idea to encourage students to BYO. It would be good to have reusable lunch bags available as well.
@sarah_aggett A great whole school approach to encourage the use of reusable cutlery/cups vs single-use could be that the canteen or food stall at carnivals offer discounts to those who are being sustainable by using their own cutlery/cups. @GreentreeSky@MissE_Educ@MissJoyTweets
Starting a new topic can be quite daunting for students, using graphic organisers is an effective way of introducing new ideas such as #sustainability#SDG12 that keeps it simple and engaging. Below are some of my favourite to use - what is your favourite? #UoNTeach#EDUC4750
