New research published in @NatureComms demonstrates how researchers at Manchester and @UofGlasgow undertook experiments to determine how the potentially life-giving electrolysis method acted in reduced gravity conditions.
๐ The team boarded a zero-g parabolic flight to escape the Earth's gravity to accurately conduct experiments.
"In our system, we found that 11% less oxygen was produced in lunar gravity, if the same operating parameters were used as on Earth."

Water-splitting using electricity would produce less oxygen on the Moon and Mars, compared to Earth, reports a paper published in Nature Communications. The findings may aid our understanding of how future space-faring colonies could use limited resources.
