Sometimes the stars (and galaxies) align!
This outflow from a newly forming star looks like it is topped by a galaxy, like a sundae with a cherry on top. Perspective makes all the difference - these objects are light years apart and totally unassociated. https://t.co/4VAGjgO4Lw
"...spiders can control not only how much venom they use but also what kind: because venom glands and ducts have separate sections containing different toxins, spiders can customize their output for different prey, thereby designing the maximally debiliatating cocktail."
I read the 100th anniversary edition of The New Yorker cover to cover. Strangely, or perhaps characteristically, my favorite piece was the one on spiders by Kathryn Schulz.

Not even Nobel Prize laureates get straight A's.
Hear 2012 medicine laureate John Gurdon speak about being a non-intellectual and having a teacher that thought it was "ridiculous" that Gurdon thought about becoming a scientist.
Developmental biologist Gurdon received the medicine prize “for the discovery that mature cells can be reprogrammed to become pluripotent.”

Celebrating legendary singer Mohammed Rafi's 100th anniversary!
From its inception in 1959 to 1967, there was only one best singer award at the Filmfare, male or female.
In those 9 years, Rafi won the award 4 times. In 2 other years, he was the sole male nominee.
Next time you admire a Christmas tree, think of physics laureates Isamu Akasaki, Hiroshi Amano and Shuji Nakamura who invented the blue light-emitting diode (LED) and made white energy-efficient fairy lights possible.

We hosted our colleague from @UHBauerCollege Finance department Haaris Mateen at our macro seminar yesterday. He presented his work studying financial solvency of local governments in USA.
Indigo staff at check-in said they had to move her slightly, apparently because they need to even out the weight in the flight, whatever that means. This is where they shifted her (photo). I paid for 3D. They sent her to 32F. By the time mum realised, she was in the flight.
I did not know @IndiGo6E staff are so deeply unethical as to cheat a senior citizen. Recently, my mother was traveling from Delhi to Mumbai. I booked her flight and I chose seat 3D for her. She was traveling alone. (1/2)
