IN CASE YOU MISSED IT 🔬 A new paper on AI and microscopy that grew from discussions between MBL Whitman Fellows was covered by @HHMINEWS. Read more: https://t.co/IWqyc7Hn31
Our new paper is finally out, showing that the same enhancer sequences - and likely the same transcription factors recruited to them - affect the activity of distal enhancers and their looping over to target gene promoters.

What is the function of the elongate tail in elasmobranch #rays? A new hypothesis with @YuliaChaumel in @royalsociety Proceedings B (https://t.co/ev2b5pkgNv) shows that the tail of cownose rays (and a few other species studied so far) has an elaborate lateral line.
❤️Our January issue is out❤️ Learn about the role of piRNAs in cardiac regeneration, the paraxial mesoderm origin of lymphatic endothelium progenitors, the association between genetically predicted social activities and #Cardiovascular disease, and more!

In this review, @gracecbower & I discuss recent evidence showing that, unlike canonical enhancers, long-range enhancers located hundreds of kb from their target genes rely on additional mechanisms to ensure robust gene activation during mammal development https://t.co/mRwr1qxKF9
Even deceptively simple-looking animals can help unlock the secrets of life. At the MBL we study creatures that hold the keys to understanding fundamental questions in science—questions about ourselves, our origins, and our environment.

📡🧵 Excited to release two #bioRxiv preprints!
The first preprint is: "Zebrahub-Multiome: Uncovering Gene Regulatory Network Dynamics During Zebrafish Embryogenesis"
https://t.co/5wBZ6XAYaa
We present a comprehensive time-resolved single-cell multiomic atlas of zebrafish development. Integrating scATAC-seq and scRNA-seq from 94,000+ cells, we map gene regulatory networks across six key stages of embryogenesis (10 to 24 hpf).
A major accomplishment by @yangjoonkim co-led by @Merlin_Lange with experiments by @Shruthi94Vijay #Zebrahub-Multiome is a sequel to https://t.co/hPFARKa8Oi, our transcriptomic and imaging atlas of zebrafish development.

Note: We sent two preprints simultaneously yesterday, and this is the first one to come out... I will append to this thread when the second one is out...
Excited to announce that our 2025 Advanced Research Training Course schedule is up and applications are open! 🎉🎉🎉
