🚨JUST IN: The @SECGov and @CFTC have issued joint, Commission-level interpretive guidance outlining how federal securities laws apply to certain crypto assets and transactions.
This follows a submission to OIRA earlier this month signaling the agencies’ intent, and was approved by all three SEC commissioners (Atkins, Peirce, Uyeda) as well as @ChairmanSelig.
The guidance establishes a token taxonomy and addresses how activities like staking, mining, airdrops, and wrapping are treated under existing law.
Notably, SEC Chair @SECPaulSAtkins says it reflects that most crypto assets are not themselves securities and that investment contracts can come to an end.
While interpretive guidance doesn’t change the law, it reflects how regulators intend to apply it, giving the market a clearer directional signal.
Separately, this is distinct from the SEC’s still-pending rulemaking on crypto asset offerings.
An extremely pointed message from @POTUS to those who are dragging their feet on CLARITY.
This is, and always has been, about what’s in the best interest of the American people.
HUGE news! @Ripple just received conditional approval from the @USOCC to charter Ripple National Trust Bank. This is a massive step forward - first for $RLUSD, setting the highest standard for stablecoin compliance with both federal (OCC) & state (NYDFS) oversight.
To the banking lobbyists – your anti-competitive tactics are transparent. You’ve complained that crypto isn’t playing by the same rules, but here’s the crypto industry – directly under the OCC's supervision and standards – prioritizing compliance, trust and innovation to the benefit of consumers. What are you so afraid of?

🚨JUST IN: 12 Senate Democrats unveiled a detailed framework for market structure legislation this morning, signaling the minority party’s readiness to work across the aisle on comprehensive crypto reform.
The group, made up of @SenRubenGallego, @MarkWarner, @SenGillibrand, @SenBooker, @CortezMasto, @SenatorLujan, @SenatorHick, @SenatorWarnock, @SenAdamSchiff, @SenatorAndyKim, @SenLBR and @Sen_Alsobrooks, lays out seven key pillars they believe market structure legislation should include.
They say the framework is meant to act as a roadmap to guide what they hope will be ‘robust, fruitful, bipartisan negotiations’ with Republicans.

Heading to DC to champion sensible pro-crypto legislation around stablecoins and market structure, and I’m very encouraged to see our elected officials look at crypto as it should be – a multichain industry.
That said, @SenLummis, as Chair of the Digital Assets Subcommittee, canceled a meeting with me (and won’t reschedule). As a leader in Congress and Senator from one of the most crypto-friendly states (WY), I hope you will reconsider and be a leader for ALL of crypto. I invite you to join me on an X Space anytime (or a live convo onstage at one of the many events we cross paths at) to talk about how to make the US the crypto capital of the world, as is the goal of the Trump Administration. I will continue to do everything possible to support that goal.
🚨JUST IN: The @SECGov has announced a settlement with @Ripple, @bgarlinghouse and @chrislarsensf.
The parties have agreed that Ripple will pay $50M of the original $125M penalty, with the rest being returned to them.
Both sides will drop appeals if the court agrees to lift the injunction placed on Ripple.
1/ I'VE BEEN THINKING about why the Fed left in place one of its anti-#crypto statements while rescinding all 4 others. The one it left in place was issued in coordination w/ the Biden White House's anti-crypto statement on January 27, 2023. Link here:

Great to be back with @LizClaman today to chat about Ripple’s historic acquisition of prime broker Hidden Road and what this means for the broader crypto market, as the US takes a much-needed pro-innovation approach with new leadership. We’re moving past the SEC’s war on crypto and entering the next phase of the market - true institutional flows integrating with decentralized finance.
🚨JUST IN: @Ripple has agreed to drop its appeal against the @SECGov and pay $50M of the originally ordered $125M fine. The SEC will also ask Judge Torres to lift the ‘obey the law’ injunction she imposed on Ripple in addition to the fine.
Once all of this has been voted on by the Commission, and the court documents are in order, the @SECGov vs. @Ripple case will be over once and for all.
The final crossing of t’s and dotting of i’s – and what should be my last update on SEC v Ripple ever…
Last week, the SEC agreed to drop its appeal without conditions. @Ripple has now agreed to drop its cross-appeal. The SEC will keep $50M of the $125M fine (already in an interest-bearing escrow in cash), with the balance returned to Ripple. The agency will also ask the Court to lift the standard injunction that was imposed earlier at the SEC’s request. All subject to Commission vote, drafting of final documents and usual court processes.
That’s all folks!

Today, Ripple moves forward—stronger than ever. This landmark case set a precedent for the domestic crypto industry.
With the SEC dropping its appeal, Ripple is now in the driver's seat and we’ll evaluate how best to pursue our cross appeal. Regardless, today is a day to celebrate this victory.
This is it – the moment we’ve been waiting for. The SEC will drop its appeal – a resounding victory for Ripple, for crypto, every way you look at it.
The future is bright. Let's build.
Yet more late Friday night FOIA documents from @FDICgov. They removed a few redactions, produced a few more documents, and promised yet another "renewed search" for other documents. Much too little, much too late. We need full transparency into Operation Chokepoint 2.0 and we need it now. 1/2
