Blog of the week goes to @CarolineCreaby for a great summary of the @EducEndowFoundn's rapid evidence review of distance learning

Really excited to be creating these digging deeper sheets for our modules. Links to documentaries, blogs, films, and books (fiction and non-fiction). Great cross-curriculum links: English, Art and Music ✌🏻✨
Today’s #retreivalpractice was “of this is the answer, what is the question?” Pupils have to ask a question that demonstrates knowledge of the relevance of the answer to the topic, then plan exam questions to show they understand how it relates to the exam. #historyteacher
Dumbfounded when I hear "every child learns differently."
1) They literally don't. Scientists can make generalizations about the mechanism across people.
2) If every child *did* learn differently, experience would be meaningless. A teacher would be a novice with each new child.
Works Book Day is just another day at HDHS- our students read for purpose and pleasure every day. We will take the opportunity today to reflect and appreciate our reading opportunities and our students get their book tokens but other than that, it is business as usual.
Lots of #feedbacknotmarking sheets around. I have tweaked my version to this one which I trialled today & loved books “marked” in 20 mins, students know work missing, then make it stick and practice exam q ✅
Pairing an image with a word more is only half the Dual Coding story (part 1).
Paivio also wrote about the different structures of visual & verbal info & how they are processed. Applying this to research, with challenging content, developed into The Visual Argument (part 2)

Brilliant talk from @johntomsett - about the culture and systems needed to make 112 teachers become evidence-informed deliberate practitioners. It’s non-negotiable: everyone has to be actively seeking to improve their practice. Everyone has an inquiry question. #rEd19
Superb talk by @mrbartonmaths and @Simon_Woodhead #rEd19 exploring confidence. If students are asked to rate their confidence they’re much more likely to review their answers than if they’re not asked. The hyper-correction effect is evident, but is more powerful for more able.
High energy, inspiring session with @EnserMark interweaving the curriculum: retrieval, spacing and interleaving #rED19#camthink love the sourdough analogy!
