Twenty days after October 7, a Hamas official sits on Russian television and explains the architecture of the place.

The interviewer asks the only honest question in the clip. “You built five hundred kilometers of tunnels. Why did you not build shelters for the people who live above them?”

Mousa Abu Marzouk does not dodge it. “The tunnels,” he says, “are so that we can protect ourselves from the planes. We fight from inside them.”

Then he shrugs the civilians onto someone else. “Seventy-five percent of Gaza are refugees. That is the United Nations’ job. Under Geneva, that is the occupation’s job. Not ours.”

That is the governing class speaking, not a rumor from Tel Aviv. Concrete and diesel and years of labor went into a city under the city for the men with the guns. The pink bedroom and the hospital ward were left on the surface because the people in them were useful as a headline, not as a population Hamas intended to keep alive.

LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO TAHIR ALI

Let me introduce you to the man sitting in the British Parliament right now, drawing a British salary, operating under a British party whip, enjoying the protection of British law, and using every single one of those privileges to serve causes that have nothing to do with Britain.

His name is Tahir Ali. He is the Labour Member of Parliament for Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley. And if you have never heard of him, that is precisely the problem. Because the things this man has said, the votes he has cast, the foreign governments that have bankrolled his travel, and the causes he has championed from inside the House of Commons, belong in a counter-intelligence file. Not on a parliamentary payroll.

This is not a rumour. This is not a smear. This is a documented, verifiable, public-record account of one man's seven-year career of advancing foreign and Islamist interests from inside the legislature of England.

THE QATAR CONNECTION

Let us start with the money.

In September 2023, Tahir Ali flew to Qatar on a trip funded entirely by the Qatar Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Not a private donor. Not a charity. The actual ministry of a foreign government. A foreign government that the United States Treasury, the European Union, and multiple intelligence services have identified as the primary financial backer of Hamas and the Muslim Brotherhood globally.

Qatar paid for his flights. Qatar paid for his hotel. Qatar paid for his food. Qatar even paid for a family member to accompany him. The total bill that Qatar's government picked up for this British MP and his guest came to £8,972. Every penny of it is recorded in the Register of Members Financial Interests.

What did Tahir Ali do in Qatar? What meetings did he attend? Who did he sit across the table from? What was discussed? The public itinerary does not say. The Foreign Influence Registration Scheme, if it had any teeth, would compel him to answer. It does not. So he filed the trip, pocketed the hospitality, and returned to Birmingham.

He also took a separate trip to Islamabad and Kashmir in the same period, with a family member, funded by a different donor, valued at £1,800. More foreign travel. More foreign money. More blank space where the meeting details should be.

THE FOREIGN NETWORK INSIDE PARLIAMENT

Tahir Ali does not just travel to foreign countries on foreign money. He organises foreign influence inside Parliament as a formal function of his role.

He chairs the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Turkey. He chairs the APPG on Jordan. He sits on the APPGs for Kashmir, Palestine, Pakistan, and Bangladesh. That is six foreign nation interest groups that this Birmingham MP either leads or participates in as a formal parliamentary officer.

Six. Not one. Six.

When does he chair an All-Party Parliamentary Group on Birmingham? On the West Midlands? On the industrial decline that has gutted the communities he was elected to represent? He does not. Because that is not where his interests lie.

His interests lie in Ankara, in Doha, in Islamabad, in Amman. His interests lie in the states and causes of the Muslim world, and he uses his seat in the British Parliament as the mechanism for advancing them.

THE VOTE THAT TELLS YOU EVERYTHING

On 2 July 2025, the House of Commons voted on whether to proscribe Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation under the Terrorism Act 2000. Palestine Action is a group whose members have climbed onto arms factory rooftops, smashed machinery, and caused millions in criminal damage.

The vote was 385 to 26 in favour of proscription.

Tahir Ali was one of the 26.

He voted to keep Palestine Action off the terrorist list. He stood with a tiny rump of radicals against the overwhelming consensus of Parliament, against the Home Secretary, against the security services' assessment, against the law. He voted no.

In the same division, the proscription order covered two other groups: the Maniacs Murder Cult, a neo-Nazi organisation, and the Russian Imperial Movement, a white supremacist paramilitary group. All three were proscribed in the same motion. Tahir Ali voted against proscribing all of them, because voting against Palestine Action's proscription meant voting no on the whole order.

That is his judgment. That is his priority. That is the call he made when put to the test.

"MILITARY ACTION AGAINST ISRAEL"

On 14 September 2026, inside the House of Commons, Tahir Ali called for Britain to take military action against Israel. He demanded that Israel be disarmed. He made these statements from the floor of the Parliament of England.

He was not speaking at a protest. He was not posting on social media at 2 in the morning. He was standing in the chamber of the House of Commons, as a duly elected MP, funded by British taxpayers, calling for the British military to be deployed against a democratic state.

The backlash was instant. Within hours he was on X posting an apology, saying he had "wrongly given the impression" that he supported military force against Israel and that he "apologised unreservedly."

But the words were said. In Parliament. On the record. In Hansard. They do not disappear because a grovelling tweet followed them.

And it was not even the first time. The Jewish Chronicle reported that it was not the first occasion Ali had raised the prospect of British military intervention against Israel. This is a pattern. The call comes. The outrage comes. The apology comes. And then it happens again.

BLASPHEMY LAWS. IN ENGLAND.

In November 2024, during Prime Minister's Questions, Tahir Ali stood up and asked Keir Starmer to "commit to introducing measures to prohibit the desecration of all religious texts and the prophets of the Abrahamic religions."

He prefaced the question by citing Islamophobia Awareness Month. He cited a United Nations Human Rights Council resolution condemning desecration of the Koran.

He was asking for blasphemy law. In England. In 2024.

England abolished its blasphemy laws in 2008. Those laws had been dead for sixteen years when Tahir Ali stood up in the Commons and asked the Prime Minister to bring them back. Dressed up in ecumenical language about "all Abrahamic faiths," the request was, as The Independent noted, transparently about protecting one religion and one set of prophets from criticism.

This is the logic of Pakistan's blasphemy statutes, which carry a death penalty and are used to persecute Christians, Ahmadis, and anyone who questions the dominant religious order. Tahir Ali walked into the British Parliament and argued for the same principle.

And Keir Starmer did not reject it. He did not laugh it out of the room. He simply failed to commit to it, which is a different thing entirely.

BIRMINGHAM IS DROWNING IN RUBBISH. HE IS BUSY WITH KASHMIR.

In March 2025, with Birmingham City Council effectively bankrupt and a refuse collection strike leaving the city buried in uncollected waste, Tahir Ali signed a letter addressed to the Prime Minister of Pakistan. The letter called on Pakistan to build a new international airport in Mirpur, Azad Kashmir, to save travel time for British visitors.

He was one of twenty MPs who signed this letter. Twenty British MPs writing to the leader of a foreign government to build an airport in a foreign territory, approximately four thousand miles from the United Kingdom.

GB News commentator Alex Armstrong said of Ali: "This is a Labour MP who is so out of touch he is practically on another continent already."

The Guardian's Kenan Malik observed that Ali had never once voted in Parliament on welfare reform or benefits cuts, issues that devastate the poorest people in his constituency, but had found time to campaign for a Pakistani airport and for blasphemy law.

His constituents are living in rubbish-strewn streets. He is writing to the Pakistani government about airport infrastructure in Azad Kashmir.

THE ANTISEMITISM. THE COVID BREACH. THE RECORD.

This is not new behaviour. It has been consistent since the day he arrived in Parliament.

In December 2019, before he had even been formally sworn in, Ali stood at an election hustings and conflated the Barclay Brothers, the Conservative press proprietors, with Lehman Brothers, the collapsed American investment bank associated in popular antisemitic conspiracy theory with Jewish financial power. The Community Security Trust logged it as a hate incident. Police received a formal complaint from a senior member of Birmingham's Jewish community.

He was not yet formally an MP. He had just been elected. The antisemitism came before he even crossed the threshold of Westminster.

In April 2020, during the first national COVID lockdown, when the government was telling the country that attending funerals was restricted to immediate household members, Tahir Ali attended a funeral in breach of those restrictions. He was photographed at the event. He apologised.

His company, Tahir Ali Campaigns Ltd, incorporated in June 2024, right before the General Election, has its registered address at a virtual office in Covent Garden. He is its sole director.

THE SHAPE OF IT

Look at the shape of what is documented here. Not speculation. Not inference. Documented, public-record, registered-interest, Hansard-confirmed fact.

A man who received nearly nine thousand pounds in travel and hospitality from a foreign government directly connected to Hamas. A man who chairs parliamentary groups for Turkey, Jordan and sits on groups for Pakistan, Kashmir, Palestine and Bangladesh, and has apparently never found time to chair one for Birmingham. A man who was one of only 26 MPs in a 411-member chamber to vote against labelling Palestine Action terrorists. A man who stood in the Commons and called for Britain to take military action against a democratic state. A man who asked a British Prime Minister to introduce blasphemy law. A man who campaigned for a Pakistani airport while his own city drowned in uncollected rubbish. A man with an antisemitism incident on his record before he had served a single day in office.

The question is not whether Tahir Ali has foreign sympathies. His own Register of Members Interests, his own Hansard record, his own voting history, his own tweets establish that beyond any serious argument.

The question is why the British state has done nothing about it.

The Foreign Influence Registration Scheme exists. Use it. The Intelligence and Security Committee has oversight powers. Use them. The Committee on Standards has the authority to investigate conduct. Use it. Lahore does not elect Members of Parliament. Ankara does not elect Members of Parliament. Doha most certainly does not elect Members of Parliament.

Birmingham does. And the people of Birmingham Hall Green and Moseley deserve a Member of Parliament whose primary loyalty is to them. To England. To the country whose laws protect him, whose taxpayers pay him, and whose Parliament he stands in.

Tahir Ali is not that man.

The evidence is in the public record. It has always been there. The question is whether anyone in this country still has the courage to read it, say it out loud, and do something about it.
