It is also super useful for buffering - simply count the non-NA pixels in the neighbourhood to create a buffer (size equals the size of the search window) - how much time I have wasted to wait for the raster-to-poly conversion to finish -,-

Or for noise reduction: This is a 2m DEM of the Karnali flood plain. The raw DEM (red) contains a lot of noise which is reduced using a set of filters (blue)

@Poonky_ I like whiteboxtools and use it quite often. It's very efficient and great for large datasets. Didn't even know about the paid extensions. So yes, the free stuff is useful!
