On April 7, 2016, two SFPD officers killed Luis Góngora Pat. By all accounts, Luis was simply sitting on the ground. This was an illegal police execution.
Tonight’s 5.5 hour meeting ended in a unanimous vote urging the DA to release video of Banko Brown’s April 27 killing by a security guard.
Walking out of City Hall, Brown’s brother, Terry, said he felt they were “a step closer to getting justice.”

You're invited to honor the memory of our Mayan brother, Luis Góngora Pat. You're invited to accompany his family. You're invited to remember his unjust slaying by killer cops, 7 years ago. No justice, no peace. Friday 10am, 19th/ Shotwell. Please bring offerings for his altar.
"Diaz lost his job as a sous-chef in March of 2020. Within a few weeks, he’d moved into the RV with his wife and kids, who are 17 and 12 ... They’re among the growing ranks of Latinos living on San Francisco’s streets, or in RVs, cars or city shelters."

Explicable response from @DeanPreston to the inexplicable retrograde vision on policing supported by @LondonBreed ... It's disgusting. Justice for Luis Góngora Pat!
Today @sfbos is voting on the city budget it negotiated w/ @londonbreed, but @DeanPreston says he's voting "no."
"Were it not for the inexplicable surge in police funding, I would be voting for this budget," he said.
"It's giving a blank check to a troubled police department."
@LondonBreed@SFDAOffice Jenkins immediately dismantle police accountability improvements that as a community we fought for and demanded! Justice for Luís Góngora Pat, Alex Nieto, Mario Woods, Amilcar Pérez López, Jessica Williams and all unjustly killed by SFPD!
@J4LGP@SFDAOffice@LondonBreed So if SFPD shoots someone this weekend there’s no one in IIB... no one n SFDA’s office .. to immediately roll out to scene to preserve evidence, ID witnesses and prevent a coverup as req’d by binding MOU! Reckless of interim DA and Mayor to leave us unprotected by rash firings!
@SFDAOffice Jenkins dismantles BII, consistent with @LondonBreed 's policy to return to the dark ages of policing of BIPOC people. We demand justice for Luis Góngora! We demand charges against his killers! We're fucking tired of the Mayor obliterating hard fought change! ¡Basta!
Recalling Chesa Boudin was just the first step of the right’s plan to expand police power in our city.
On Monday, a proposal to MASSIVELY EXPAND police surveillance is before @conniechansf, @AaronPeskin, and @RafaelMandelman at the Rules Committee.
Here’s a thread. 👇
OPINION: Mayor Breed paid lip service to criminal justice reform, saying Brooke Jenkins understands "the need for compassion." But it's hard to see the promotion of someone who fought to levy cruel punishment on a severely ill man as proof of those ideals. https://t.co/lCksuotjvv
@CART_SF would provide a future of care not criminalization for unhoused residents of San Francisco. #CARTSF It would end the egregious unjust murder of homeless individuals by SFPD who need care not bullets!
CART is a practical realistic solution to moving away from police response. Reallocate funds from the police budget to reinvest in the community! #CARTSF@CART_SF@sfbos
We need to reallocate funding from the carceral system. And we want a very tiny portion of that reduction, $4.8 million to go to fund the Compassionate Alternative Response Team (CART) through DPH. @cartsf@sfbos
In 2020, SFPD unanimously passed a resolution to move away from a police response to homelessness and asked the BOS to sponsor a stakeholders group to design that alternative.
One year later, that alternative has been developed and it is called @CART_SF. #implementCARTnow
Faced with skyrocketing use-of-force totals, Mission Police Station’s new captain blamed the SFPD's new use-of-force reporting policy, which he criticized as too expansive and cumbersome.

EDITORIAL: The recall campaign’s case against DA @chesaboudin tends to be light on facts but heavy on anecdote, emotion and accusations that usually prove untrue. But timing is everything, and he's become a scapegoat for rising public anxiety in The City. https://t.co/l8XtCgn419
OPINION: Recalls are supposed to be for exceptional circumstances, not for when the losing side wants a do-over. They shouldn’t be used to unseat a DA who's doing what he said he'd do — especially when the campaign's based on fear and misinformation. https://t.co/v8mXjVSerC
Unhoused individuals have repeatedly fallen victim to police violence, such as Luis Góngora Pat, who was fatally shot by SF police on April 7, 2016. We are still calling for justice for Luis and his family.
@J4LGP
From the Mission to Yucatan to Antioch: We want justice for Luis! Please take a minute today to write, tweet, call @chesaboudin (628) 652-4000 [email protected] to ask him to charge Luis Góngora Pat's killers with murder. It's his choice. Help him make the right one!
