Jack is no terrorist. We've been saying it since Day 1. But he is being held incommunicado in a foreign dungeon, unable to defend himself. Join our campaign to #FreeJackLetts!

This is significant
Turkey says it is near completion of ISIS prisoner repatriation
Unlike Canada, Turkey doesn't believe that repatriating its 181 Turkish nationals before they are executed is 'interfering in the judicial process of another country' (direct quote from Canada's Foreign Ministry)
@AnitaAnandMP: Any comment on how Turkey can repatriate its 181 nationals and Canada can't manage 5?

** Alert for Shamima Begum watchers:
- All Australian families have now left al-Roj camp, where Shamima still is, having been persecuted as a symbol & not a person by UK gov for 7 years
- Syrian gov & Kurdish authorities (SDF) agreed in Feb 2026 to empty al-Roj camp
- Transfer of foreigners from al-Roj camp is now being managed by the High Commissioner for Refugees
- Roj camp houses 730 foreign families, with a total population of approx 2,225 people
- The larger al-Hol camp, with 24,000 residents, was completely emptied & closed in Jan 2026
- @Charles_Lister reported that in the quarter following the closure of al-Hol, there was actually a decrease in jihadist attacks, contrary to the 10-year-long dire warnings of 'extremism experts', who agreed to depict 70k women & children as monsters in return for gov research funds
- Question is, when will the detainees in al-Roj camp be reunited with their families, like those in al-Hol?
- Syria is sovereign country with an internationally recognised gov & no longer a playground for Western powers
- Britain, France, Germany, etc, etc: The game is up

Never ceases to amaze me how our so-called 'extremism experts' refuse to categorise Canadian IDF soldiers - who went to Gaza to blow off the legs of Palestinian children - as 'CETs' - ie Canadian Extremist Travellers
Instead, they pour all their energies into supporting false evidence against Canadians they do categorise as CETs, who have been detained abroad with no opportunity to defend themselves in over a decade
Including Wassim Boughadou, who is featured in this article & who has already survived 7 years of horrific treatment in a Turkish prison, after having been convicted on a false confession that was obtained during torture
Wassim still has long-lasting & severely debilitating health problems as a result of the abuse he received over this 7-year-period
This article points out that he has already served his sentence & that Turkey ordered his deportation in 2024
This deportation order from 2024 is fully documented, so why did Cdn gov lie and claim in 2025 - a full year later - that Wassim 'escaped from detention & is a fugitive'???
Why did Cdn gov refuse four times to issue him with a travel document - even though the deportation order from Turkey was in force & RCMP said they were ready to receive him on his return?
Even if the gov's claim is true & the video featured in this piece was filmed in Free Syria Army (FSA) territory, does Cda not know that FSA were an ally of the West and, in fact, remained alongside the Coalition forces at Syria's al Tanf base right up until the complete departure of US forces from Syria in Feb 2026?
Such facts have been hidden from the press and the public for a long 14 years.
During that whole time, the Cdn gov has worked overtime to prevent the truth from emerging, refusing to repatriate a traumatised young man - based on the utterly ludicrous notion that he is a fugitive, having somehow managed to escape from his detention centre upon completion of his 7-year-long sentence
Why would anyone 'escape' at the end of their sentence?
Why is the Cdn gov allowed to get away with such nonsense?
Why do our so-called extremism experts allow the Cdn gov to get away with such nonsense?
Why do they continue to allow the torture & mistreatment of Canadians who have been denied justice, or even contact with their families & the outside world, for almost a decade?
Time for this travesty to end

Good work by @Beltrew on the tragic tale of Jack Letts & the UKs rather pathetic sacrifice of a troubled lad on the altar of pretending to be tough https://t.co/n4Adwm1F1A I hope we will get him out of Iraq soon, with or without government help.
This is actually the best & most interesting analysis that I, as #Aafia’s lawyer, have ever read about her case @aafiamovement@moazzambegg@mariakari https://t.co/ESMTSFObga
My beautiful friend’s son has been moved to Iraq where he can be executed with no intervention from our government. This is what our government has become and we should all be terrified.

“We’re in a surreal world where British citizens and Canadian citizens are about to be executed, and everybody collectively shrugs. I don’t know what to do any more.
“They have to take responsibility to protect their citizens from torture and death and the death penalty. And if they can’t do that, what are they for?”

For 12 years, Sally Lane and John Letts have been fighting to bring their son Jack - held in Isis prisons in Syria and Iraq - back home to Oxford. They tell the story of how their lives fell apart to chief international correspondent Bel Trew.

Australia repatriates 4 women and 9 children from al-Roj camp
Syrian interior forces came to Al Roj to pick them up directly and take them to Damascus
British Foreign Minister, @YvetteCooperMP, in contrast, says Shamima Begum has to stay in al Roj camp until Bangladesh claims her as their own or she dies - whichever comes first
Canada says the 5 Canadian children can come home, but only if they leave their non-Canadian mothers behind
Clearly, Canada learned absolutely nothing from its self-flagellation over the forced removal of indigenous children from their families - after Trudeau expressed his 'horror and shame' at the government's racist actions, even performatively kneeling at these children's residential school grave sites @LeahGazan@avilewis
Clearly, Trudeau's horror and shame never extended to these five Muslim children in Syria - illegally incarcerated for 7 years now - and @AnitaAnandMP similarly feels no horror or shame at her department's cruelty in continuing to fight these kids' desperate court submission to come home with their mothers
Canada - most hypocritical nation on earth

Charter Day is just like any other day in Canada...
In 2023, in reference to the unlawful detention of #JackLetts and several other Canadian men, Federal Judge Henry Brown stated "Canada must make a formal request for their repatriation because otherwise the Court is asked to construe the Charter in an 'unreal world."'
And yes, 3 years later, we are indeed living in an 'unreal world' - one in which politicians laud the virtue of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms in theory, and completely ignore it in practice. Jack is still in detention, and his Charter-protected "rights" are still non-existent.
M. Galligan, respect for international humanitarian law is essential to preserving human dignity and must be upheld. This is especially urgent in the cases of Canadians who were wrongfully detained in Syria for up to nine years and have now been transferred to Iraq, where they face possible execution. Say yes to international law and no to execution!
Ms. Anand, in your discussions, did the topic of repatriation of nationals found NOT to be affiliated with ISIS come up? A Finnish minor was recently liberated after 7 years in detention - perhaps you could get some pointers from the Finnish Ministers and apply them to any Canadians in the same situation: https://t.co/9KnU1g1G58
Mr. Carney, in your discussions, did the topic of repatriation of nationals found to NOT be affiliated with ISIS come up? @docrussjackson Glad someone noticed!
Please follow and/or check out https://t.co/MOBduFQHpG for more info on how #JackLetts has been imprisoned for no good reason and betrayed by BOTH 🇬🇧 and 🇨🇦
It was certainly an "unconventional approach" for the 🇺🇸 to coordinate the rendering of 5700 uncharged, untried detainees from all over the world to further detention in Iraq. I suppose some might call that "unconventional", or possibly "devious", or even "intentionally cruel and malevolent". But let's stick with "unconventional" if it makes you feel better, Mr. Ambassador.
"Even if 🇨🇦 doesn't care about the lives of these men (God knows, I've been screaming for 10 years), does it not care about its utter lack of sovereignty that allows US to do 'whatever it likes' to Cdn citizens and there's not a damn thing 🇨🇦 can do about it?"
Two months ago, America used its military power to render 5 Canadian men from Syria to incarceration in Iraq, a country with the death penalty
These 5 Canadian men were amongst 5,704 men extracted by US military jets to the central prison in Baghdad
Thus proving that 'American has the military power to do whatever it wants' to Canadian citizens
@MarkJCarney's patriotic response to this US action:
Render Canadians to Iraq? Sure
Sit back while they are given the death penalty? Sure
Tell families there's nothing they can do? Sure
Even if 🇨🇦 doesn't care about the lives of these men (God knows, I've been screaming for 10 years), does it not care about its utter lack of sovereignty that allows US to do 'whatever it likes' to Cdn citizens and there's not a damn thing 🇨🇦 can do about it?
At least Greenland is standing up for its country
When will 🇨🇦 stand up for its citizens against Trump?
Or will it just issue its 'deepest condolences' when these Canadian are executed by death by hanging?
