"Right boys, that's the end of coal in the UK for electricity."
This was the moment Ratcliffe-on-Soar power station was shut down, bringing an end to the country's 142-year reliance on the fossil fuel.

@michaelfow Does the sky fibre have an ont box connected first? If so you shouldn't need the router at all and can just connect to the ont box with your own router. Alternatively if the sky router has bridge /modem mode that will work. Electric will be negligible. Past that wireshark...

@virginmedia Hi, I have checked the status page but as prior it says yes there are problems but does not give more details or an ETA. Could you give me more details on the fault please (as it is upload speeds only!) and an ETA
.@AllisonPearson has shared her thoughts on the #ElectricVehicle transition in today's @Telegraph
Been a while since I've seen an article with quite so many inaccuracies and unevidenced claims
So, here's a not-so-little thread to debunk some of the things that have been said
Works have now started at Lakeside on one of the largest solar car parking canopy projects in the UK.
This #sustainability initiative, undertaken by @portsmouthtoday, will generate power for the site and includes a battery store excess solar energy.

I’m not saying I have all the answers to this but why in 2023 is every UK council not doing this as a bare minimum?
The plan I would implement if I was in charge of EV transport in my council area and actually wanted to make a difference to my residents (using the On Street Residential Chargepoint (ORCS), local electric vehicle infrastructure (LEVI) fund, @innovateuk, @OZEVgovuk and @EnergySvgTrust support):
✅ At least 10% of all council parking bays had 11kW Charging Posts @ 10p/kWh markup on wholesale rate BUT with cheaper overnight tariffs (cost price + 15%) + expansion ready (floor dug and ducting installed) for 25% additional bays
✅ At least 1.4% of council car parking bays with a 100kW+ Rapid Charger
✅ Dedicated website to enable residents to request a gulley in the pavement outside their home for EV charge cables + guidance for residents on how to safely do this (+ reminder to residents this doesn’t mean they have a dedicated spot outside their house) + info for nearby residents (leaflet drop) + at cost work (for anything outside of the scope of available funding)
✅ Lamp post street charging retrofits (where safe to do so) again easy to request one if required
✅ Ensuring all installers of EV charging equipment have a minimum uptime requirement and they're heavily penalised if this fails
✅ Push all local businesses towards information about Government Workplace Charging Scheme (75% funding)
✅ Support Home Charger Sharing Schemes (not sure how but this is potentially important for some key issue locations)
✅ The option of street chargers where possible (remembering the 75% funding option)
✅ Extra support for EV car-sharing schemes (possibly cheaper promotion/lower £/kWh if bought in bulk etc)
✅ Support battery storage locations in the area
✅ Signage, open days and seminars to help people transition with invites to car manufactures etc

This Twitter 2FA change is nerve-racking because:
1. Only ~2.6% of Twitter users have 2FA on at all (it’s essential for preventing easy account takeover)
Of those 2.6%, 74% use text message based 2FA (https://t.co/WXuFydZk17)
If they don’t pay for Blue they auto lose 2FA on 3/20.
The Uber hack is quite severe and wide ranging. Wishing their blue teams the best of luck and love during this understandably difficult period. Some thoughts & observations based on what we've seen so far 👉 1/N
We’ve published @Ricardo_AEA lifecycle analysis of greenhouse gas emissions from cars, vans, buses and HGVs with different powertrains. The findings strongly support Gov’s strategy of increasing electrification to decarbonise road transport!
