@malonebarry There are spikes of hysteria around one-off events; there is constant reporting around a longer event. That's how news works, what is the issue?
@AaronBastani You're absolutely spot on about this. The purity testing some parts of the left are forcing onto us, over and over again, will end up eating its own tail; it always does.
I don’t think I’m a virtuous person. We are all sinners, and err everyday.
Any left politics built on an aristocracy of virtue, & virtue hoarding, where unbelievers are malevolent, will perennially lose.
We have rather a lot of evidence at this point.
@PhilipProudfoot Maybe talk to a historian of genocide? There have, after all, been a lot of them throughout history - e.g. Cambodia, Darfur, Rwanda, Palestine, Holodomor (approx 3 million deaths there, right?), Holocaust etc etc. Hopefully you can find something illuminating there.
@faniaoz She's also friends with David Miller and the AZM (who are also, you'll never guess, backers of Greens for Palestine) - you can google David Miller yourself but he is spectacularly unpleasant and gives me the absolute creeps. https://t.co/Kojg1mdZWR
@simon_schama Simon, what can we say to people who keep telling us that Zionism is a single, monolithic, settler-colonialist ideology, and who will never read this essay (or indeed dare admit that other settler-colonialist ideologies have ever existed!)? I'm so tired of battling them.
@WorldWearyWoman@PhilipProudfoot You've decided on that reading of Zionism because that's what suits you. You do not have an authoritative understanding of Zionism, none of us do. We all have partial and biased understandings of it, ALL of us. All ideas are subject to wide interpretation, that's how they work.
@ZacGoldsmith whenever these people are challenged about saying these things, they just reply, 'we're good people because zionists commit genocide'. And it's like...have you listened to yourselves? you're NOT good people 🙄
@RabCharley@andree_frieze This is really good, thanks. "Some 850,000 Jews who were ethnically cleansed from the Middle East after Egypt, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia and Iraq declared war on the new country of Israel in 1948" - I didn't know this! No idea at all.
As you will know by now I feel very strongly about just how problematic the Green Party motion is. This is a must read from @andree_frieze https://t.co/SHlOSlnCdk
@6thShitPosting@PhilipProudfoot Wow, isn't it amazing that Ra'am is allowed to exist there, then! And do you ever want to find out if things are so great for other ethnicities in OTHER countries or you just gonna focus on Israel? You're a bot, so you do only have room for one thought in your brain, to be fair.
@auxtron@PhilipProudfoot Well, if you're adamantly judging Israelis en masse whilst clearly eliding the fact you haven't actually spoken to any of them, that's kind of...mental. God knows why I'm wasting my time.
