100%. Every school through secondary schools ought to be phone-free, excepting extremely limited and specific situations. They are not helpful nor useful for any academic purpose I’ve ever seen and have only ever caused problems. #edutwitter https://t.co/asAtqjxEgg
If you read the standards and know anything about child development, you would be able to see that these standards are completely inappropriate. 1st graders are supposed to memorize and recite parts of the South Dakota constitution.. Most 1st graders can hardly tie their shoes!
I’ve been reflecting for the past couple of days and I can’t help but feel gratitude for the people that believe in me, the @DigitalZSD community and the work it’s taken to get to this point.
Be relentless in your pursuit of excellence, and climb the mountain each day. 🙏
Had a parent complain that her 10 & 13 yr old:
“did the same thing for 3 straight months.”
Yes, ma’m. Your inexperienced & untrained children got a steady dose of:
- Progressive overload
- Consistency
- Cueing & coaching
- Guidance & improvement on loading
As they should.
Watched a High School aged girl officiate a youth game today. She had to eject an adult fan that was yelling...and she handled it really well.
Then I found out she quit and didn't come back for the next game.
Adults...What are we doing???
Summer AAU/Club is great but there is something special about seeing student-athletes compete against rival schools, in front of a crowd of community members, friends, and family, after attending classes all day, while playing alongside teammates who are their classmates.
I wish more people understood/believed this. My worst workouts are in the morning when I force myself to wake up and “grind” almost as if sleep is super important to health & getting stronger 🤔
"I EXPECT students to do hard things — that are research-based, data driven, and developmentally appropriate. The proposed social studies standards are not research-based, not data-driven, and are far from appropriate."
