@feralb0y0 The protest I’m referring to was not explicitly lead by marxists/socialists. Idk what their politics were, some sort of radical liberal most likely. Unfortunately Seattle DSA did endorse this protest, which I think was a huge mistake, but we weren’t leading it.

I remember bringing a friend to a protest against the Trump coup attempt in Nov 2020 and the protest organizers all demanded we venmo them. That was it for my friend, he never came back.

Not to burst anyones bubble, but if elected Oliver Larkin would almost certainly end up with the politics of AOC or Zohran. The only reason people glaze him so much is because he did not have a chance to disappoint the DSA left like basically every elected ever

I think some members in MUG are saying things they don’t even believe now. Larkin is cool but he wouldn’t be useful for downballot races. Here in Seattle nobody knows who Larkin is, how does that help us with our down ballot races? MUG members are smart enough to know this.

@carp_lurks I think she probably would endorse down ballot, but even if she doesn’t, the mobilization and new member recruitment we could do during a presidential primary could be immensely helpful to our down ballot races. More volunteers and members energized looking for work to do.

NBA Hall of Famer Dwyane Wade says he began distancing himself from certain jokes and language in the Miami Heat locker room long before his daughter Zaya publicly came out as transgender.

Speaking on the 'Conversations With Cam' podcast, Wade explained that as his family privately navigated Zaya’s identity, he started listening differently and no longer participated in what he called a “masculine, toxic environment.”

“I wasn’t in on the jokes no more. I wasn’t laughing. I was leaving out of the locker room when I would hear certain things,” Wade said.

The shift led him to have a direct conversation with longtime teammate and close friend Udonis Haslem, who was unaware of the family’s situation at the time. Wade said Haslem later changed his thinking, language, and actions after that “safe conversation.”

Zaya came out publicly in 2020. Wade and his wife Gabrielle Union have since become prominent advocates for LGBTQ+ youth. Together with Zaya, Wade co-founded Translatable, an organization focused on creating supportive spaces for LGBTQIA+ young people.

Wade emphasized the need for more environments where people can listen and learn rather than immediately reject unfamiliar topics.
