Here's an idea for @Microsoft : What if you licensed Firefox as the official built-in browser for Windows?
A lot of people are irritated at how Microsoft pushes Edge, but the open source community would *love* if Microsoft provided income for Firefox and increased its adoption.
@karomancer I go on 1-2 mile walks through my neighborhood once or twice everyday. And most days I go to a restaurant for lunch. Trying to establish a habit of going to the gym too.
Sending technical info about a problem to a company and receiving a response that shows they actually read and understood your messages is a rare treat that really shouldn't be rare.
I found a bug in a merchantโs site that was preventing checkout. They replied confirming their checkout stats had crashed. Thanked me. And gave me a 100% off coupon. Honestly, them admitting it was real and that Iโd helped them solve it meant even more than the free makeup.
@deleteman123 The extent clean code matters corresponds to how often that code will need to be modified/adapted/understood in the future, especially by devs who aren't the original author.
Code that won't be reused or modified doesn't need to be as clean, but this can be hard to predict.
@jamonholmgren I do not understand why Google shut down X, for almost any value of X. And there are a lot of them.
(Exception: I totally understand why they shut down Stadia)
@daboigbae I tried it for a couple months, but didn't find it very useful.
When they make an AI coding assistant that can understand my entire codebase and properly suggest code that calls my existing classes and methods, that'll get my attention.
@jamonholmgren I tend to avoid calling methods in this sort of assignment just because it makes setting breakpoints and inspecting program state a bit awkward.
@patio11 I have lived exclusively in the USA and I still don't know what to tell a barber or hair stylist when they ask me how I want my hair cut. My only solution has been to find someone who cuts it how I like, then only go back to that person exclusively and say "do it like last time".
Honestly, this is a much better user experience than the sea of animated banners, auto-playing videos, and full-screen modal pop-ups I see at many weather sites.
@GailSimone There are very few non-procedurally-generated games that I've played through multiple times, but The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Hollow Knight are two examples I can think of.
