Wrapped up my first year on the bench. I presided over numerous trials, traveled 12k+ miles, had an efficient 113% case throughout, completed 56 hrs of judicial education, and 19 out of 20 completed appeals of my rulings were affirmed or denied. Grateful and ready for more!

RAPID ONSET DROUGHT POTENTIAL: CPC (NOAA's Climate Prediction Center) has highlighted the possibility of rapid onset drought (ROD) across south-central Tennessee and most of Alabama in their 8-14 hazards outlook. This is due to the combination of little to no rain, limited soil moisture, and warmer-than-average temperatures.

Most of the water supplies across Alabama are in fairly good shape, but the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) maintains a statewide Fire Alert. While under a Fire Alert, permits for outdoor burning will be restricted. Anyone who burns a field, grassland, or woodland without a burn permit may be subject to prosecution for committing a Class B misdemeanor.

I am pleased to announce that our Court amended Rule 4 of the Rules of Civil Procedure today to allow service of a complaint or subpoena (rule 45) by commercial delivery (for instance UPS or Federal Express among others). This should improve our courts’ efficiency and accuracy.
