And if we are to be precise, it's not quite accurate to claim that we inhabited the Caucasus for two millennia.

The photo on the right is of Jews from Vartashen in north-western Azerbaijan.

When Joseph Judah Chorny visited them in the 1860s, the Vartashenis told him that their ancestors are "from the land of Persia from the province of Qazmon [Qazvin] and Urmi[a] and Zalem" and arrived in the 1700s.

The little data we have of Jews from Vartashen shows deep roots in the Caucasus.

@palestinegene Would be interesting to find which subclade of E-PF6751. We believe there are currently only 9 Palestinian BigY samples in this haplogroup.

Not sure about northern Chaldeans, but according to the Borgia "map", Gog (Caucasus) is where Jews were trapped by the Persian king 😂
