Growth or green - @bbcquestiontime#bbcqt
These fields in #Manchester are under threat of ‘development’. Rare trees here, some 130+ years, wildlife & 25,000 locals would lose their local green space. Save @ryebankfields & the #health & #mentalhealth of the people up north.

Developer Consultation ends 23:59 on 1st November. Head to

@ryebankfields Most of it was greenwash and spin but this was just appalling! Mr Harinder Dhaliwal in his role as Managing Director of @Step_Places must know that @ryebankfields is #greenfield so why would he say this?
Next month. A public meeting.
Also coming soon another exhibition style consultation by MMU's chosen developers said to be taking place early autumn with a possible planning application early next year.

🙌A huge thank you 🙏 to the members of the @Unite_Community GM branch, for voting to support our campaign to Save Ryebank Fields!! ✊There were so many great ideas about how at your meeting. Looking forward to that picnic, let's get it in the diary while the sun is shining! 😎
In statements provided by candidates before local elections in 2021 it was claimed that councillors had got their 'red lines WRITTEN into the Development Framework' making them MATERIAL CONSIDERATIONS. This was not the case, and that claim has been withdrawn.
@bellaclare1@spartanmatt_w@Craftipsych@mathewhbenham Unfortunately this misinformation regularly crops up. As this appears on a thread you started @mathewhbenham it would be great if you corrected it, at the same time perhaps countering the ‘handful of NIMBYs’ comment, as well as belittling your constituents it is also incorrect.
Ryebank Fields has been rewilding for 30 years, that’s the length of time it takes to get meaningful shade from a tree @WoodlandTrust@theTCPA@Lancswildlife @rtpiknowledge @CIEEMnet yet #BNG agreements in most cases will only last 30 years 😕 Please protect Urban Greenspace 🙏🏼
Increasing numbers of bats found '"underweight" or "starving"'. Long term fall in numbers of the insects bats eat, due to pesticide use - a scarcity sharpened this year by an extremely rainy summer.
What can be done to support these incredible creatures?
