The problem with highly intelligent subcultures here is that the incentives are set up to reward either highly esoteric frames or knee jerk contrarianism. So you end up with the reverse midwit meme: the middle opinion is boring but actually correct, and the v dumb/v smart extremes are wrong but do numbers.

When everyone's trying to demonstrate their intellectual sophistication, there's an arms race toward increasingly esoteric positions, since obvious truths don't signal intelligence effectively to that audience. In a way it was the reverse five years ago, when conformity to a narrow set of views was rewarded and dissent was punished.

We are seeing media reports of GPS interference affecting the plane carrying Ursula von der Leyen to Plovdiv, Bulgaria. Some reports claim that the aircraft was in a holding pattern for 1 hour.

* The aircraft's transponder reported good GPS signal quality from take-off to landing.
