🇨🇦🇦🇱 Today, I reintroduced my private member’s bill in the House of Commons that, if passed, would designate the month of November every year as Albanian Heritage Month across Canada!

I would like to thank the MP for Mississauga East—Cooksville, @PeterFonsecaMP , for seconding this bill and I hope that all Members of the House will support it.

Canada is home to many Canadians of Albanian heritage.

Canadians of Albanian descent have left and continue to leave a historic mark on Canada, with contributions that span communities across the country and are reflected in Canada’s economic, political, social, and cultural life.

If passed, Albanian Heritage Month would give us a special opportunity to recognize the contributions that Canadians of Albanian descent have made and continue to make to Canada!

This morning, I had the opportunity to meet with H.E. @ArtemisMalo, Albania’s new Ambassador to Canada. We had a great discussion on the strong relationship between our two countries and our strong people to people ties. I look forward to working with Ambassador Malo and continued work with the large Albanian community in #Etobicoke Centre. I am particularly proud of the work with our community in Etobicoke Centre on one of my Private Member's Bills, which, if passed, would declare November as Albanian Heritage Month.

Congratulations to Kosova for being invited from @PACE_Political to become @coe member.

An important step of the Political Committee of the Assembly of the Council of Europe, thanks to Kosova's continuous commitment to the values of democracy, human rights and the rule of law.

We expect that the April session of the Parliamentary Assembly will pave the way for the last step of the membership process of Kosova in the Council of Europe.

It was wonderful to spend time with leaders from the Kosovo and Albanian communities.

To commemorate Kosovo’s Independence Day, these communities presented us with traditional folk dance and other incredible musical performances.

This was also an opportunity to recognize the accomplishments of Art Eggleton, who was the Minister of National Defence at the time of the 1999 Kosovo conflict.

To mark two years of the Ukrainian people fighting for their freedom and ours, I have arranged for Canada's Parliament to be lit blue and yellow today and on February 24th.

Ukraine's victory is vital to Canada's security, so we must ensure that the Ukrainian people receive the support they need to achieve that victory.

Canada will stand with the Ukrainian people until they win.
