On the occasion of the "Day of the Imprisoned Writer", the @DublinBookFest. hosted a special event organized by @PENIreland/PEN na hÉireann, dedicated to İlhan Sami Çomak, a Kurdish poet and political prisoner in #Turkey for over twenty years. Çomak has become a symbol of resilience and creativity, continuing to nurture his art despite the confines of prison walls.

At the end of the event, @CarolineStockf1, Ipek Özel, @DunneCatherine, Burhan Sönmez, Iggy McGovern, and @PaulaJMeehan gathered around the "Empty Chair", the powerful symbol of @pen_int, posing with my portrait of @ilhan_comak.

Turkey has been conducting a wave of retaliatory air strikes in Northeast Syria for the killing of Turkish soldiers by the PKK in Iraqi Kurdistan. Targets include oil installations & a civilian hospital in Kobani, a replay of strikes carried out in October that also destroyed civilian infrastructure.
