The Miranda warning says "If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be provided to you." Well in Virginia that might be true, but the state may still make you pay for it.

GA and non GA folks: Contact Senators Warnock and Ossoff to demand they protect Atlanta’s democracy and publicly say that Cop City must be put on the ballot.
Email both Senators at once https://t.co/Zc71MKVnuH or call directly:

We mourn the deaths of Mr. Frazier & Ms. Snelling, whose deaths were kept secret for nearly a week. Jails are sites of violence and death that do not make us safer. We should invest in reducing incarceration rather than a $73 million jail renovation.

A newer jail does nothing to make us safer. Jails are sites of violence. Also when people stay in jail they lose their jobs, homes and children. This increases instability in our communities which makes us less safe. Get involved, we keep us safe.
Local government in Charlottesville and Albemarle wants to go $73 million into debt to rebuild the jail. Who's going to have to pay that back? We are!
We need programs to support our neighbors, not a nicer jail. Get involved in the fight: https://t.co/6NaOMeJV9D

We did it! Today, the landmark bill SB 403 cleared its Appropriations Hearing and is now ready to go through its final procedural steps in the legislative process. Together, our community is making history in the fight for caste equity. Jai Bhim!!
