Enhanced ischemic tolerance elicited by CH was associated with significant reprogramming of cardiomyocytes, reduced mitochondrial respiration, mass and increased autophagosome formation in wild-type mice only. This beneficial effect was absent in hif1a+/− mice. 2/3
