Look up tonight! The Strawberry Moon reaches peak fullness at 7:56pm ET (2356 UTC).

Despite its name, the Moon won't actually look pink or red! It's called the Strawberry Moon because many Native American tribes used this full moon to mark the strawberry harvest season.

Sparkly, swirly, and surprising 🌌

@ChandraXray data shows that this galaxy, Messier 83, is unusual. Over 20 of its supernova remnants – remains from star explosions – vary drastically in X-ray brightness. Typically, the remnants' brightness would fade slowly over time.

Photo finish! 🏁📸

On June 14, Perseverance completed a Martian “marathon” by surpassing 26.2 miles (42.195 kilometers) of travel. The day before, NASA’s Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter snapped this view of the rover and its tracks from space.

Ten years ago, New Horizons came closer to the surface of Pluto than any spacecraft in history, flying less than 8,000 miles (13,000 km) above the surface.

This enhanced-color image was taken when New Horizons was about 280,000 miles (450,000 km) away.

400 million years ago, a high-speed galactic collision created the Cartwheel Galaxy, pictured here by @NASAWebb.

The collision most notably affected the galaxy’s shape and structure, which will continue to transform over time.

30 years ago this week, a space shuttle docked with the Mir space station for the first time.

A new Mars rover autonomous driving record 🥇

Perseverance recently traveled 411 m (1,348 ft) in a single autonomous drive, breaking its previous record by 64 m (210 ft). Longer drives bring the rover closer to terrain that could reveal more about the Red Planet’s distant past.
