Tesla FSD v14.2 is acting like a European tourist when it drives. Let me explain.

When I first started using V13 10 months ago it was like riding with a 16yo. It knew the rules, mostly followed them, but was jerky as could be.

New releases brought improvements to where we got to 22yo driver level with some laws broken, smoother, jerkiness seldom, but no regard for other drivers. Need to get over? Just signal and go. Getting off the interstate in .2 miles? Far left lane is ok, just send it.

So jump ahead to V14.2. It’s smooth. It’s smart. It acts like it is thinking ahead, not just reacting. But it drives like a European tourist now. Not bad but not great. Turn signal comes on way too often and way too early. It likes to turn into the wrong lanes when making protected turns. It doesn’t understand school zone signs when there’s a time limit involved. It just goes with the flow of traffic even if the lead car does something dumb.

So is FSD 14.2 awesome? Hell yes it is. My robot truck drives me more than I drive it. You just have to watch out for the scenarios where it’s gonna do dumb stuff….like a tourist.
