Mukasa is an experienced community based Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Expert with extensive passion and experience in Suicide Prevention and Response,
Today, we kick start our discussion on "Community localization and adaptation of Women Harm reduction in Uganda"
Our First speaker, Dr. Moses Mukasa Bwesige--Ph'D, demystifies the need for women harm reduction programming and its intersection with community based mental health and psychosocial support.
In his submission he explains the existing Myths and facts about drug use, and why we should use a human rights based approach and the principle of natural justice.
He notes that "recovering is a journey where by some people do it because of the family pressure or for those around them like families but not for themselves --which easily causes relapses. Therefore we need to understand the harm reduction very well and how to support those affected by it."

@KampalaJournal I believe that Hon. Suzan may be too sheltered to grasp that sex work, like many other professions, is shaped by numerous factors—some beyond the control of those involved—rather than simply being a matter of personal choice.
@KampalaJournal Our focus should shift towards addressing the underlying factors influencing life choices, particularly among the underprivileged, and exploring how best to regulate sex work in a way that aligns with both legal frameworks and social norms, rather than reacting with excitement
@KampalaJournal The issue isn't merely her privileged upbringing but rather her limited exposure, similar to many of the legal gatekeepers in this country who are driving policies and decisions without a nuanced understanding of these realities.

@KellyTClements@UN The wide spread moments of rejection, lack of compassion, and inappropriate treatment of LGBTIQ+ individuals lead to unacceptable mental health and psychosocial outcomes. This is especially true in humanitarian settings
Today and every day, let's celebrate our differences and work together to build a world where everyone is free to love, express, and live authentically.
