Workers are being intimidated by Punajb Police in front of Ibrahim fibres. Workers are refusing to back down. They have given years to this mill but the mill management fired them in middle of pandemic. #Workersrights

[Ammar Ali Jan @ammaralijan]

We are at protest of workers of Ibrahim fibres in Faisalabad. Workers were told not to come to the mill in April due to COVID. Last month, 2000 workers were told they had been fired in April.

Families of workers are also at the protest. Heavy police presence.

Workers of Ibrahim Fibres have been pleading authorities for past 5 months to reinstate them. Today we announced hunger-strike camp in front of Governor house if workers are not reinstated.

Punjab govt must listen to the demands of these workers.

[Haqooq-e-Khalq Party @Haqooq_e_Khalq]

HKM once again stands in complete solidarity with Ibrahim Fiber workers, who are protesting since April.

Today, HKM Lahore & Faislabad members participated in the protest. HKM will host the sit-in by these workers in front of governor house. Join us to build a workers movement.

Today at 1 am, Punjab police began lathi charge on protesting workers of Ibrahim Fibres. Hundreds injured and over 50 arrested.

Industrialists fire workers in middle of pandemic. When desperation forces them to protest, they are beaten up. This is reality of Pakistan today.

[Ammar Ali Jan @ammaralijan]

Workers are being kept at Gulberg and civil lines police stations. So far police has not given any FIR. Most of the injured are Christian workers.

Labour leaders plan to announce country-wide protests against barbarity of Faisalabad district administration.

Our urban elites & chattering middle classes talk about national security a lot. Does Pakistan's safety also mean safety for workers demanding their rights? Or is all this security talk just about securing the profits of the rich Ibrahim Fibres owners & other capitalists?

[Ammar Ali Jan @ammaralijan]

On 7th September, Punjab police launched brutal crackdown on workers in Faisalabad. Yesterday, we met in Faisalabad to express solidarity with workers and devise future strategy. We will hold workers protest in Faisalabad and across Punjab in the coming weeks. #WorkersRights
