A reminder that it is our modern industrial civilization’s accelerating demand for materials that drives fossil fuel consumption, ecocide & the West’s imperialist assaults on the Global South.
In 6 recent years we've consumed nearly as much as we did in the entire 20th century.

Obstructionists say taking urgent climate action would be too expensive - because they assume that taking no action costs nothing
In reality, inaction so far will cost ONE FIFTH of global income by 2050
Ending fossil fuels is the cheapest and least disruptive option we have
The climate and ecological crises are inextricably interwoven
And we can't successfully mitigate or adapt to climate change without nature
So any 'climate solution' that destroys nature shouldn't be considered a climate solution at all
That means planting trees on natural grasslands,
using farmland to grow biofuels,
burning forests for electricity,
flooding forests for hydroelectricity,
and destroying habitats for solar farms
ARE. NOT. CLIMATE. SOLUTIONS
