Yesterday, we discovered the coolest rock of the cruise so far! 🪨 Our igneous petrology teams immediately got working to figure out what processes could have led to its formation. Can you guess what it might be?
On #M191#seafloor#mapping helps determine dredge locations. The MBES provides bathymetric data & the magnetometer identifies ferromagnetic features (intrusions, seamounts). New volcanic features were found (below) & some suspected volcanic edifices turned out not to be igneous.
