📊 Reflecting on Impact, Strengthening the Future
Today, @UraiaTrust under the #RITAIProject conducted a Monitoring and Evaluation visit to our Headquarter Office in #Mombasa. The visit marked an important milestone as we approach the final phase of the project, offering a moment to #reflect, assess #progress, and document the journey so far.
The engagement provided a platform for meaningful discussions on the #achievements, #lessons learned, and areas of #growth throughout the #implementation period. As @Mwarpkenya , we had the opportunity to share powerful #successstories from our work in #Lamu and #Garissa Counties.
From improved access to quality public #services to enhanced civic #awareness and #participation, the project has contributed significantly to promoting good #governance at the community level. Communities are now more informed, empowered, and actively engaging duty bearers in decision-making processes.
A key highlight has been the strengthened capacity of community members and stakeholders in understanding and utilizing the Access to Information Act, 2016. This has opened up spaces for #transparency, #accountability, and more #inclusive governance.
As we near the close of the RITAI Project, today’s visit reaffirmed the impact of collaborative efforts and the importance of sustaining these gains beyond the project lifecycle. We remain committed to amplifying community #voices, advancing #rights, and building #resilient, #informed communities.

The Commission on the Status of Women #CSW70 is a powerful global moment to reflect, recommit, and accelerate action toward gender equality. It is a time to amplify the voices of women and girls, especially those in marginalized and crisis-affected communities.
Recurrent drought in Kenya’s ASAL counties is being driven by #climatechange.
Women, girls, and marginalized communities are bearing the heaviest burden.
The response must be gender responsive, locally led, and sustained.

We kicked off the 2026 #KEWASNETCoffeeHours with @OdhiamboSnr from @esrc_hakijamii, who analyzed Kenya’s 4th UN UPR cycle regarding the human right to water. While the government pledged to expand WASH in informal settlements, the focus isnow to the 4-year implementation phase.
Sanitation is more than infrastructure; it’s a right. From SDG monitoring to integrating sanitation into water company core ops, #SaniBook provides the roadmap for a unified, climate-smart approach. Congrats, #ElizabethMwangi, on this vital milestone for Kenya. #WASHForAll.
Data is the fuel that sustains passion in the WASH sector. KEWASNET joined Elizabeth Mwangi and @WaSHVoice for the launch of SaniBook, a landmark tool designed to map the sanitation value chain, reduce project uncertainty, and bridge the 36% access gap with evidence.
Is water a basic need or a luxury?
For years now, some parts of Garissa cannot access this need, especially my home, Bulla Mzuri. Despite having River Tana just 2 km away, the longest river in Kenya, the cries of the people remain unheard despite the harsh weather conditions.
50+ days in detention. No charges. No justice. Kenyan teacher Hassan Osman Mohamed Qasim remains imprisoned in Lascanood, Somalia simply for starting a school. We stand with him and demand his freedom. The Kenyan government must act now. #JusticeForHassan
Our Country Director recently visited our Garissa Field Office to connect directly with the communities and partners driving meaningful change on the ground.
During the visit, she engaged with residents at the Shabaha Water Point and Outreach site, listening to their stories and witnessing the real-life impact of our programs. She also paid a courtesy call to our valued partner @WomankindKenya and visited the @PastoralistGirl — reaffirming our shared commitment to empowering local communities and advancing sustainable, community-led solutions.
We deeply appreciate the courtesy call and the reaffirmation of our shared vision to empower communities, especially women and girls, through sustainable and locally led solutions. Together with other partners, we remain committed to creating resilient, and empowered communities.
During the event, the NieHub team highlighted the vital role of the private sector in expanding digital access for marginalized communities.
