A new study led by Charlie Roscoe, environmental health research fellow, found that noise generated by things like cars, trucks, trains, and airplanes was linked with increased risk of cardiovascular disease in a group of women in the U.S. https://t.co/UCHO5AmNg3

Proud to work on DAGs and causal inference in Environ. Epi (sorry @aisha_dickerson ! I’ll get you onto DAGs eventually!) with our GeoHub for Climate and Health students! @GEOHubMENA Our 2nd annual workshop! Thank you @Myriamrad22 !! @hsphniehsctr
@Myriamrad22 kicking off our 2nd annual GeoHub for Climate and Health in the Middle East and North Africa workshop! Great work putting all of this together!! @GEOHubMENA @hsphniehsctr
Even with strong misclassification (e.g. recall) bias of main effects, if G&E are independent, the interaction is unbiased. We show even if G&E are dependent, observable results in your data can bound the bias, often allowing you to still identify an interaction. @epimikey
Gene-environment (or any) interaction analyses avoid many biases if Gene&Env are independent. Our new paper shows you still get some benefits when G&E aren't independent! @hsphniehsctr

Sending best wishes to @DrAriBernstein today as he begins his new role as Director of @CDCEnvironment. We know our country will benefit from his steadfast commitment to protecting the #health of people & communities most vulnerable to #climatechange & other environmental hazards.

I don’t think this is largely COVID. US has better survival at ages>75 (indicated in article) and COVID is more an older age thing. Big drops like this point to earlier deaths, e.g. from opioids, infant mortality… They affect life exp. #s much more than old age deaths.
