Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci removing her chador during her tense 1979 interview with Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in Qom, Iran...
In October 1979, Italian journalist Oriana Fallaci traveled to Qom, Iran, to interview the Islamic Revolution's supreme leader. To get inside the room, Fallaci was forced to cover herself from head to toe in a heavy black chador, leaving only her face visible.
The conversation inside the room was tense from the very start. Fallaci did not hold back her questions.
She pushed the Ayatollah on political executions, the sudden shutdown of independent newspapers, and the sharp loss of rights for Iranian women under the new regime.
When she asked about the forced wearing of the veil, Khomeini dismissed her concerns and claimed the garment was meant to protect young and respectable women. He then added,
"If you do not like the Islamic dress, you are not obliged to wear it."
Fallaci took his words literally and replied, "Thank you, Mr. Imam. Since you tell me so, I am taking it off right now."
With a quick move, she pulled the chador off her head, leaving her hair completely exposed right in front of the Supreme Leader.
Khomeini was furious.
He stood up without saying another word and walked out of the room. The room fell silent, and the interview was abruptly stopped. However, Fallaci refused to leave Iran until he returned a day later to finish the conversation.
This confrontation became legendary in the history of journalism.
It showed a reporter refusing to bow down to authority, even in one of the most dangerous settings imaginable.
Fallaci proved that real journalism requires standing up to power, asking hard questions, and refusing to be silenced by fear or tradition.
When journalists trade raw courage for easy access and comfortable silence, we lose one of our strongest shields against tyranny.
In an era where true courage in reporting feels rare, her brave stand reminds us that honest journalism still has the power to light up the dark, giving a voice to the voiceless and inspiring future generations to speak truth without fear.

Marlon Brando once told Dick Cavett that everyone on Earth is an actor.
Then he proved it, live on air, by dissecting Cavett himself.
It remains one of the most disarming exchanges in talk show history.
Cavett opened by pressing Brando on something he had read for years: that Brando considered acting "not a fit profession for a man." Brando deflected at first. "We can't believe the press; I don't know what we can believe in this country."
But then, in his words, "in an effort to help your ratings," Brando laid out his real view of acting:
"I think that we couldn't survive a second if we weren't able to act; acting is a survival mechanism, a social lubricant, and we act to save our lives every day."
People lie constantly, he explained. By not saying what they think. By showing something they don't feel. By trying to give the appearance of feeling something they don't actually feel.
Cavett pushed back: "But that's not acting."
Brando disagreed:
"That is acting. When you're nervous or frightened in this chair, or distressed and angry, you know that is not what is necessary to be shown here, so you control your face. You're a highly controlled person and you have to do that."
Cavett argued there had to be gradations. He was motivated in the moment, but he couldn't wake up the next morning and repeat that same performance on command, take after take. Surely that skill, the thing Brando did better than almost anybody, was something different.
Brando refused the compliment. He pointed to the office worker who hates his boss but performs enthusiasm for his "impossible notions" day after day to keep his job.
Cavett countered that delivering the same line six times, getting "something deeper into it time after time," takes an actor. Everyday performances are one-time things with immediate motivation.
"No, they're not one-time things because it's a daily procedure," Brando replied. "The dialogue changes but the motivation doesn't."
Then came the moment the interview is remembered for. Brando turned the lens directly on his host:
"Right now, you're thinking of 60 things at once: 'Is it getting dull? Is he upset? Is he bored? Is he offended? Here's a good time for a joke.' You're doing this editing at an insane rate with a demeanor of levity and zest, and that finally isn't what goes on in your mind or feelings at all."
Cavett's response said everything:
"I just feel like all my clothes have been taken off."
Brando softened it. "I couldn't do what you do, and that's a different kind of acting; you're playing a different kind of role."
Cavett tried one final test. He handed Brando a commercial script and challenged him to read it, any way he wanted. Brando refused flatly: "No, I won't do it."
Cavett's closing line: "I'm glad you didn't. The man's incorruptible, and that's what I hoped."

🔍 The Iranian regime depends on massive bot armies to spread propaganda and manufacture fake support online.
Echoing previous investigations into the regime’s digital propaganda machine, a March 2026 study found the Islamic Republic heavily depends on organized bot armies and coordinated disinformation campaigns because it lacks genuine public support.
Losing on the military front and lacking genuine public support, the Islamic Republic has increasingly relied on digital propaganda and massive bot networks to manipulate narratives online.
A new investigation claims the regime mobilized one of the largest state-backed bot operations in the world during the 2026 conflict.
According to a report cited by Khaleej Times, Iran’s online propaganda network reached between 200,000 and 400,000 active bot accounts at peak capacity, pushing nearly 440,000 posts per day across X, Instagram, Facebook, and Telegram.
When aligned networks linked to Russia, Hezbollah, and China joined in, the ecosystem reportedly expanded to as many as 700,000 coordinated accounts.
This was not random spam but industrial-scale information warfare designed to manipulate reality at mass scale.
Researchers describe a sophisticated three-layer system:
⚪ Sleeper accounts aged for years using normal content like sports, food, and travel to appear authentic before activation
⚪ Strategic propaganda accounts designed for long-term narrative manipulation using centrally scripted messaging with slight variations to evade detection
⚪ Shock accounts rapidly deployed during crises to flood platforms with coordinated hashtags, propaganda, and disinformation within minutes of major events
On March 13 alone, researchers say nearly 287,000 accounts were activated in a single day, with most showing clear bot behavior.
The networks reportedly pushed AI-generated images, deepfakes, fake battlefield footage, doctored satellite imagery, and coordinated anti-US and anti-Israel narratives before fact-checkers could respond.
Researchers described it as “the industrialisation of deception.”
The goal was not just propaganda. It was to overwhelm reality itself:
⚪ Flood social media with regime narratives
⚪ Manufacture fake public consensus
⚪ Intimidate critics and dissidents
⚪ Manipulate international perception
⚪ Create confusion faster than truth could spread
The Islamic Republic does not only export terrorism through proxies and militias. It also exports disinformation at an industrial scale through cyber operations, bot farms, and coordinated digital warfare.
From @WSJopinion: A defeat for the ayatollahs would also benefit the world’s two billion Muslims. It would extinguish a radical experiment with an ugly shadow stretching from Lebanon to Indonesia, writes @dhume.

An official from Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said the minimum age for participation in war-related support roles has been lowered to 12, according to remarks aired on state media.
Rahim Nadali, a cultural official with the Guards in Tehran, said an initiative called “For Iran” was recruiting participants to assist with activities such as patrols, checkpoints and logistics.
“Given that the age of those coming forward has dropped and they are asking to take part, we lowered the minimum age to 12,” he said, adding that 12- and 13-year-olds could now take part if they wished.
The comments were broadcast as part of state coverage of the war effort.
The move comes despite Iran’s commitments under the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which prohibits the use of children in military activities.

Courageous Afghan-Iranian taekwondo champion @MarziehHamidi exposed the Islamic Republic of Iran's repression of women at the United Nations, warning the West not to be fooled by the regime's propaganda.

Victor Davis Hanson has spent fifty years studying how wars end. When he says the tide is turning, it's worth listening to why.
His argument isn't based on what the Pentagon is saying. It's based on how everyone else is behaving.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗘𝘂𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘀. VDH's rule: Europeans never agree to go anywhere near a conflict unless they think the winning side has already been determined. They didn't help in the early days. Now they're starting to move. That movement is not idealism. It's a calculation. They've looked at the battlefield and decided which way this ends.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗚𝘂𝗹𝗳 𝗽𝗲𝘁𝗿𝗼-𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. The Saudis, the Emiratis, the Qataris — these governments have survived for generations by reading the regional climate with precision. When they expel Iranian military attachés, when they intercept Iranian missiles over their own capitals and say nothing about American strikes, when the UAE reaffirms its $1.4 trillion investment commitment to the United States mid-war — they are not making ideological statements. They are placing bets. And they are betting on the United States.
𝗔𝗹 𝗝𝗮𝘇𝗲𝗲𝗿𝗮. This is the one that should stop you cold. Al Jazeera — the Qatari state media network, historically critical of American military action, the network Tucker Carlson and the anti-war right love to cite against Israel — is now calling the U.S. bombing campaign brilliant and effective, and saying it has been underestimated. When the media outlet of a nation that hosts both the largest American air base in the Middle East and a Hamas political office starts praising American military effectiveness, the message is unmistakable: 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘸𝘦'𝘳𝘦 𝘨𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰 𝘸𝘪𝘯.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗮𝗹. A-10 Warthogs and Apache helicopter gunships are now flying strike missions in Iranian airspace at will. VDH's point: you only deploy those aircraft when there is effectively no air defense left to threaten them. They are slow, low-flying, close-support platforms. Their presence confirms what the Pentagon has been claiming — Iran has no meaningful air defense remaining.
Iran's strategy now is rope-a-dope. Run out the clock. Wait for American public opinion to shift. Hope the midterms create political pressure on Trump to stop. It is the only play they have left.
VDH's conclusion: if Trump sees it through — and he believes he will — the regime falls. Not in years. 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗼𝗻.
