How can we accept that Africa still lacks a single Permanent Member in the Security Council?
Institutions must reflect today’s world, not that of 80 years ago.
September’s Summit of the Future will be an opportunity to consider global governance reforms & re-build trust.

Yesterday in Mauritius, the Secretary General of the AfCFTA Secretariat, H.E. @MeneWamkele gave a key address at the opening session of the Africa Partnership Conference 2023, which runs from 2-3 October.
In his speech, the Secretary General highlighted that in the context of the AfCFTA Agreement, a Protocol on Investment was adopted by the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union in February 2023.
He highlighted that, for the first time, intra-African investment, which is estimated to be around 4%, will now be conducted on the basis of a single set of rules including investment facilitation, dispute settlement and innovation. The protocol on investment is a significant tool to attract and protect investment, according to the Secretary General.
The protocol and harmonisation of regulations and standards resulting from the implementation of the AfCFTA will ensure that investment flows are strengthened, compliance costs are reduced and efficiency is increased. According to the Secretary General, the aim is for this to lead to job creation and increase Africa's attractiveness as an investment destination, while ensuring regulatory alignment between African countries.
The event is attended by representatives of Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) from 25 African countries, forward-thinking venture capitalists, fund managers, Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) and other organisations. #AfCFTA #InvestmentProtocol #APCMauritius2023
