@ZTemple5 A new tool I am using to make learning more fun is Blooket. It is a gamification site, like Kahoot, but there are different game formats and opportunities for all students to win, even my lower learners. I will often play with the students and they love to "glitch" me #wuedt6020
@TeachMissKomp I teach math, so being able to see the work my students are doing is crucial. I could have them hold up their work to the camera, but that is difficult. Instead, I use Jamboard. It is an interactive whiteboard through Google. I can see exactly where the students are #wuedt6020
@PoliteTommie Too often this year, I have been kicked out of Zoom and not able to get in. At first my students treated it like a day off. Now when this happens, the students know to check Google Classroom for an assignment. I have a bunch of premade activities I can quickly post #wuedt6020
@Laura55043167 I was using Peardeck as a formative assessment during lessons; however, my district purchased the premium version of Nearpod, so I have been using that instead. It is very similar and has been so helpful #wuedt6020
@sowilmu Breakout rooms have been so helpful for me. Not only in getting to assess my students, but getting to know my students. They are much more comfortable asking questions and sharing in a small setting #wudet6020
@farnan_sherri I love the Google Slides with the whiteboard idea! At the beginning of the year, some of my coworkers delivered whiteboards to their kids. I did not and I wish I did so that we could utilize them #wuedt6020
@EvelynB48974922 We use a program similar to IXL, called Moby Max. It makes it super easy for me to track their progress and keep track of data. #wuedt6020
@PoliteTommie What format are the Schoology quiz and assessment tools? Are they similar to Google Forms (multiple choice, short answer, check boxes)? #wuedt6020
@ZTemple5 I will also continue to assess through technology when we are back to remote learning. It is so much more organized and easier to give students modified versions if needed #wuedt6020
@ms_maxwell181 I love using Google Forms because of the self-grading. However, with math assessments, I feel like it is not fair to my students because they cannot earn partial credit on their work if their answer is incorrect #wuedt6020
@Ashley_Wilmu@McCoolWILMu Being able to collaborate and share ideas with my coworkers has been a game changer during virtual teaching. We have shared technology resources, materials, tips, and experiences with one another. Despite me being the technology whiz of my group, they have definitely helped me.
@EvelynB48974922@McCoolWILMu I agree with trying one tool at a time. Trying too many at once can make it overwhelming for the teacher and for the students. At the beginning of the year, I tried having the students just set up their log ins for a few different sites at once. It was a disaster.
@McCoolWILMu My advice would be to be honest with the students. Whenever I try a new kind of technology in the class, I tell my students they are the 'guinea pigs.' Afterwards, they get to give me their feedback. The students even end up teaching me things that I did not know! #wuedt6020
@MayBlan27 Mayra, I have the same problem with students not turning in work. Tracking work completion of students has been a part time job for me recently. Even when I am in constant contact with parents, much of the work still does not get done.
@Laura55043167@McCoolWILMu Laura, I absolutely agree with the lack of understanding/respect. Unfortunately, I feel this most from my admin. team. I already feel overwhelmed, but they just keep adding more tasks and requirements from us. I've been trying my best to turn work off on the weekends.
