I'm migrating off the website formerly known as Twitter - find me on M******n as Zuckerberg basically ruined Facebook so I don't expect Threads to be any different.
Maybe I might check out bluesky when it opens up.
@eevblog The science in the movie was the absolute minimum for the story but seemed on point, the marbles in the jars was a good exposition as one of the critical paths in the project was the accumulation of enough fissile material for the bomb
@eevblog Having read some of the history on the Manhattan project I knew that would be another film by itself. Trailers are often misleading. One has to judge the movie on what it sets out to be rather than what one expects and in that regard I think it's a very good movie.
@RichardALJones This looks suspiciously like you've arbitrarily picked 2 phases and the transition date is skewed because of bad fit due to 3rd phase after 2020 consisting of COVID and Brexit
@robmanuel@adebradley This somehow reminds me of the thing where tins of food always have pictures of the food that's inside them. But strangely pet food is an exception for some reason.
@Pickpricklypear @patrickkmaguire Lab need to communicate that to make an omelet they have to break some eggs. They will inherit a shit ton of debt, high interest rates, a depleted tax base, huge capex reqts, a need for massive investment, high expectations for QoL and wage increases. Fixing this is not cheap.
@martyrmade I doubt either the PM or the President gave it 5 minutes of thought they just said "get me something appropriate for a state visit" and unfortunately in Obama's case it must have ended up with some White House intern. He probably found out too late and just had to roll with it.
@crxfrd@DavidHenigUK Not specifically though. You don't want to use a bank if Farage is a customer but if Jacob Rees Mogg uses it, that's fine? How about Dorries? Boris? Where do you draw the line? It's not practical as a deciding factor.
@Muinchille@DavidHenigUK I'm sure he wouldn't want any scrutiny over his own banking transactions if they were to accidentally become public: https://t.co/6kaYwzyaQt
@Muinchille@DavidHenigUK I think they just went through their accounts, decided to close a bunch where the risk/reward ratio was too high and his was one of them. I doubt they had a single specific reason, but previous stories about Arron Banks and his Russian connections can't have helped
@timfarron It's more important than ever in an increasingly cashless society to support a right for everyone (even Nigel Farage) to have *a* bank account. But that doesn't mean every bank has to make every account available to every person.
@SithElephant@jburnmurdoch But it does cover windows which are openable as a secondary means of escape, which normally would have a catch to prevent wide opening but now must be made to this new minimum height. https://t.co/1iDg6eF89u
