I was born and raised on Chicago’s South Side, and I love this city with all my heart. That’s why it breaks my heart to see Chicago’s decline.
One reason for Chicago’s decline is the failure of its leaders:
• Brandon Johnson — refused to pay about $3,500 in water and sewer bills and more than $1,000 in parking tickets despite having the “ability to pay.”
• Lori Lightfoot — sued by credit card companies over more than $11,000 in unpaid debt.
• CTU President Stacy Davis Gates — a six-figure earner and major Johnson backer who refused to pay the $5,700 she owed the City of Chicago.
Chicagoans don’t get a pass on paying their bills — yet these people manage and influence billion-dollar budgets.
That’s why I founded Save Chicago Now, a nonprofit focused on voter education, transparency, and accountability in city government.

7. Learn from failure
"Failures are the stairs we climb to reach success."
Failures lead to success when we are willing to learn from the loss and keep going.
Ask yourself:
- why did I fail
- what can I change
- how will it work differently
After answering these, go again.
Heart disease is the #1 killer.
But it’s insulin resistance that causes it, cancer, diabetes, and Alzheimer's.
Since your doctor won’t help you reverse it, here are 7 simple steps that can:
Book: Toxic Charity by Robert Lupton
The 5 steps to dependency:
1st time you give some something they “appreciate” it.
The 2nd time they “anticipate” it.
The 3rd time they “expect” it.
The 4th time they feel “entitled” to it.
The 5th time they “depend” on it.
I find this to be true of even the people around me. The question is, how do you be generous, sacrificial, and helpful without creating entitled people and/or depend, lazy, victims?
BREAKING: Moody’s cuts U.S. credit outlook from stable to negative.
Reasons for the cut:
1. Downside risks to U.S. fiscal strength have increased
2. Fiscal deficits to remain very large
3. Debt affordability to be significantly weakened
Since the debt ceiling crisis “ended” S&P has downgraded US credit ratings and now Moody’s cut their outlook.
All as interest rates are soaring and the U.S. issues trillions of Dollars in debt.
Warning signs are everywhere, but no one is listening.
Whats the long term plan here?
They say your truck is a reflection of who you are.
This truck – the one I used as a chimney sweep in college – is a reflection of a small-town kid who believed in hard work, building trust among neighbors and overcoming life’s challenges. Honored the Ye Old Chimney Sweeping truck has found a new purpose with the Red River Market in Fargo!
In 2001, Warren Buffett gave a talk at the University of Georgia.
He asked them the most Warren Buffett question ever:
• If you could invest in a friend and get 10% of their income for life -- who would you pick?
Once the students answered the question, he then asked this:
• Why would you invest in that person?
• What character traits do they have?
Now they have a list of character traits to adopt.
Shortly after this, Buffett asked:
If you could short a friend's earnings, who would you pick and why?
Now you have a list of character traits to avoid.
----
1. Do not think this thought experiment is only about money.
You can use it for whatever currency you value.
E.g. Happiness coin
If you could get 10% of a friend's happiness, who would you invest in and why?
If you could short someone's happiness, who would you pick and why?
You can run the same thought experiment with Fitness coin, Friendship coin, Romance coin, etc`
2. This thought experiment is genius because it hacks a bug in life's video game:
Humans are terrible at self-awareness.
But we are great at spotting things in other people.
E.g. If your friend is in the wrong relationship, you can realize in 10 minutes what may take them 10 years.
Daniel Kahneman summarised his book on cognitive biases with the following:
“The premise of this book is that it is easier to recognize other people’s mistakes than our own.” - Daniel Kahneman
3. Nuance - It has to be purely from merit.
Buffett says it can't be because someone will inherit a large sum from their parents.
It has to be based on their behavior.
E.g. If you want 10% of someone's fitness coin, it's not because of incredible genetics -- is because of the actions they take.
