PGE says 22% of customers, ~200,000 people, are enrolled in their demand flex programs and are called on to automatically change thermostat 1-3°F ~15 times per year. They earn $25 at sign up and $25 per season in bill credit. They can opt out and override thermostat changes at any time (but lose the $25 credit if they do).
