@Vlerick, in Belgium daily 30 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests occur, surival is less than 10%. A Public AED is only used in 0.4% of the cases. We need 24/7 availabilty and a dynamic AED-network with medical first responders to improve survival rates. Let’s do this 💪🏻
Happy to present Individualized Shared Ventilation as a possible solution for the ventilator surge capacity problem raised in the COVID-19 pandemic. Join us @ abstract session 3 and closing session #BESEDIM21
#Sigh “the lack of collegiality is bad for the profession, and ultimately for the patient”. Well integrated and efficient #teamwork, free sharing of knowledge, skills and responsibilities are important! As is mutual trust, RESPECT of each other’s expertise.

Today our research group reached an important milestone in the development of a shared ventilator solution for a ventilator surge capacity problem. We developed an Individualized Shared Ventilator setup and successfully demonstrated it in an in vivo model. https://t.co/ZMcAAZ0gOx

"It doesn’t appear that the authors of the statement anticipated the ingenuity of the teams in Belgium and Columbia at avoiding these issues." This is about Dr. Mergeay, Dr Janssen, and you, @Michiel_Stiers !
@Jurrie We anticipated the situation where the COVID-19 patients exceed the ventilators. It was already described in the literature, we modified it with a valve to customize treatment per patient. In theory you can extrapolate this to 4-8 patients/ventilator.
@PulmCrit, we read your article "splitting ventilators”. In Geel, Belgium, we placed a rotary valve in one of the circuits to adapt for patients lung compliance. E.g. for COPD emphysema. We made a video https://t.co/wyie61efvr #FOAMed#ICU#Corona
