@ezraklein Some conspicuous absences from your abundance platform:
Permit reform with bright-line antitrust thresholds/rate regulation for dominant infrastructure?
Guarantee project-labor agreements/wage boards so workers share gains?
@ThrowawaySign@BattleSquire90 I’m not making a value judgment on Biden at all, the consistency of right wing attacks being both about inability and capability simultaneously isn’t really up for debate.
@Synthropus@Jakal00p@o_sneedy I haven’t seen any evidence of this. But one thing I am realizing is that you view government through the lens of shareholder capitalism, rather than stakeholder capitalism.
He has a tremendous degree of leverage with unions to pressure them to enact reforms for tangible benefits, he’d be more amenable to them too than any other mayor.
It’s not far fetched to assume if there was a diagnosed deficiency, he be able to address it. There’s also no convincing proof of that, and it’s been argued since Reagan’s reforms in the 80s with no meaningful metrics they can point to.
@Synthropus@Jakal00p@o_sneedy Is there any evidence Mamdani isn’t pursuing this? He’s already pulled back on millions in bullshit consultants with impotency built into the deliverables
@ms_bob_dobalina@o_sneedy His approval rating reflects the success of these ‘stunts’. Regardless of whatever label you want to attach to the population it’s effective for, collectively it’s a substantial portion of New York.
It's a recursive pattern of violence; there's no meaningful way for palestinians to retaliate at scale, which encourages more brash action on the part of the israeli government, which again leads to more desperate attempts by Palestinians at resistance.
This isn't normative moralizing, this is just structural. The death of civilians is terrible, and should never happen - but the current framework just encourages disproportionate responses on both sides.
Your responses mostly seem to follow the same structure of deferring to western European fashion norms and universalizing them as if they're immutable and/or untouchable.
You're one of the most knowledgeable guys on men's fashion on Twitter, but consistently citing adherence to norms held by the monarchies in Europe isn't the most convincing thread to base your entire narrative on - it seems unnecessarily conservative, no?
