@DrPorcher As an educator I have the ability to change someone's life, a student
seeing me disrupt the norms could lead to them following. Being a good person involves making changes, don't let the norm continue just because its easy.

@missbogusz @DrPorcher This definitely can lead to students feeling shut down in classrooms and eventually pushed out of our schools through the school to prison pipeline
@Miss_Benson11 @DrPorcher @aprilbakerbell I agree the Dr. Baker Bell workshops totally gave me new understanding and appreciation for Black language and BASL
@DrPorcher I think anti-Blackness is all throughout the education system. Learning about black language has been really important to me and I want to make sure I respect the validity of the language in my classroom. Learn from your biases.

@dr_s_bertrand A4: I am committed to constantly reflecting on who I am and how I act. Always looking for improvement and constantly evaluating my students learning environment to make it more and more inclusive. There is no one step solution but I will commit to constant change and reflection.
@pramirez2023 @dr_s_bertrand This is such a good point and would be so so helpful to have those resources to create a successful learning environment for everyone.
@dr_s_bertrand A3: It is important to remember that even though you may not be the exact same as the student you are teaching that doesn't mean you cant be a role model for them. Inclusivity also should be an everyday thing, not just a lesson we do once.
@dr_s_bertrand Biases can hurt students of color when we make assumptions about their skill level or resources they may need. Something from class that has remained super important to me is making sure I don't have a deficit perspective on my students and instead an asset perspective.
