@mcxdermott@beatED Food and nutritional rehabilitation and weight restoring is the first step to recovery. Daily Telegraph article is outdated nonsense
My D definitely had to go over her "target weight" to reach true recovery. State, not just wt., is so important -- If there are still behaviors, there likely needs to be more wt. My daughter hated herself at her lowest wt. (sickest, disordered thoughts), loves her body now. https://t.co/o4E5NEh1ld
Just posted: Are We Setting #Recovery Weights Too Low? https://t.co/dV6OyBFfEa Thanks to all the parents who contributed anecdotes. With the help of amazing researchers, we will be conducting a more formal survey shortly so stay tuned! @mcxdermott@sczerwas@LauraCollinsLM
@TODAYshow @MegynTODAY You had such a great story to share w/ Mia Kang, but may have triggered EDs in others by sharing pics of her at her sickest, her lowest wt & size, how she suppressed her appetite & heartbreaking "diet" -- you know better, plz do better #EatingDisorders
If you can, make your depression look like this street. Bleak and rainy but there’s music and art and even comedy hiding in its lonely cafes and you can use those to escape.
@Oprah & @djkhaled, use your @WeightWatchers influence to help us stop the dangerous & damaging teen summer program. Our youth should be taught to change the world, not their bodies. Join 20,000+ signers in supporting the petition at https://t.co/WD3FvHMivX. #wakeupweightwatcher
Did anybody find it ironic (hypocritical?) when #WrinkleInTime Mrs. Which, played by @Oprah — a major investor in the diet and weight-loss co @WeightWatchers — questions, “Is there such thing as the wrong size?” when other characters tell her she’s too big — the wrong size?
Weekly weigh-ins at WW meetings beginning at age 12 ➡️turned into daily weigh-ins at my house ➡️ turned into obsessive weigh-ins multiple times a day. WW is not an "innocent program" it causes severely harmful emotional, mental, and physical distress. #WakeUpWeightWatchers
RT @BALANCEedtc: 95% of those with #eatingdisorders are between the ages of 12 and 25. How many of those between the ages of 13-17 could potentially use this free program to conceal their disordered behaviors? #WakeUpWeightWatchers
This truly breaks my heart. Our teens need to be taught how to truly listen to and love their bodies, not to be cut off from their cravings. #weightwatchers#BoycottWeightWatchers https://t.co/oPuXPEraMJ
#WakeUpWeightWatchers. Targeting vulnerable and at-risk teenagers as part of your growth strategy to reach 10 Million members and grow $2 Billion dollars in revenue is not ok. @WeightWatchers@Oprah
#WakeUpWeightWatchers Targeting teens is shameful WW members cycle through program over & over This campaign is about profit- hook them young keep them longer- not about health @Oprah@WeightWatchers
Hey @WeightWatchers & @Oprah: PLEASE listen to us & consider the documented adverse outcomes your program has for teens. The personal stories are of substantial volume & the data support them. #WakeUpWeightWatchers
And don't be fooled by the "Loss Leader" tactic - give something away for free, or at very low cost, ensuring your customers spend MORE money than they might have. This is not a Health Initiative, it is a Marketing Ploy. Cynical and dastardly. @Oprah - Just Say No. https://t.co/T2fuwY14gs
#WakeUpWeightWatchers your clever plan to hook adolescents will ONLY benefit your bottom line. You will plant the seeds for food obsession, binge eating, poor body image, eating disorders, and lifelong struggles. WE SEE YOU. @weightwatchers@oprah
