I visited my sister Martha Karua following her unlawful detention and subsequent deportation by Ugandan authorities together with my fellow leaders Hon JB Muturi, CJ Emeritus David Maraga, Hon Eugene Wamalwa, among other leaders.
What transpired is deeply troubling and sets a dangerous precedent for our region. The arbitrary denial of entry to a respected leader and Senior Counsel is not only an affront to her dignity, but also a direct violation of the principles that underpin the East African Community, including free movement, mutual respect, and democratic engagement.
We must not allow the continued shrinking of democratic space within our region to become the norm. Today it is Martha Karua, tomorrow it could be any voice that dares to stand for justice, accountability, and the rule of law.
I strongly condemn this act of political intolerance and call upon all citizens and residents of our region to stand up firmly for the rule of law, defend democratic space, and reject any actions that undermine our shared freedoms and unity as East Africans.
We stand in full solidarity with Martha Karua and with all those who continue to champion a just, open, and democratic East Africa.
This evening, I paid a courtesy call on Senior Counsel and PLP Party Leader Hon. @MarthaKarua at her home to express my solidarity following her ordeal in Uganda earlier in the day.
Also calling in were Hon. @skmusyoka, Hon. @HonJBMuturi and @profkagwanja.
There can be no meaningful East African Community if citizens performing their professional duties are harassed or barred from moving freely across the borders as permitted by the Treaty.
As counsel for political prisoners Dr Kizza Besigye and Hajji Obeid Lutale, @MarthaKarua has every right to access her client in Uganda.
We call on the government of Uganda to uphold the rule of law and respect binding treaties of the Jumuiya.

Heavenly Father, thank You for protecting us from the consequences of some truly terrible ideas. We laugh now... but only because You intervened.
Today, give us wisdom.
"If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God." (James 1:5).
Father, You gave Solomon wisdom above riches. Do it again for us. Through Jesus Christ. AMEN.
Funny thing about office gossip... it dies of hunger, not arguments. The colleague who never attends the lunch-table parliament is usually the one accused of having an attitude. In some offices, refusing drama is treated like a crime.
Outgoing Internal Affairs Minister Maj. Gen. Kahinda Otafiire has accused the police department of undermining his leadership. Speaking on his tenure, Otafiire revealed that operational challenges began after the departure of Maj. Gen Geoffrey Tumusiime Katsigazi who served as the Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIGP) for the Uganda Police Force from January 2022 to May 2024. He also briefly served as the caretaker IGP. He was replaced in May 2024.

Gen. @otafiire_k “Okunyaga” has long been understood in our jurisprudence as a wrong that does not go unaddressed.
As the laws of this country remind us, failure to settle a debt attracts consequence. Interesting, then, that with the mantle of Minister of Internal Affairs now upon me, we shall see how swiftly principle meets practice.😀😎😀

Today, @DrTedros, @WHO Director-General, joined health authorities, ambassadors, high commissioners, heads of missions and partners in Uganda to brief them on the #Ebola outbreak in neighbouring Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Dr Tedros applauded #Uganda's commitment to continued, real-time transparency in sharing information on the outbreak and actions taken.
He reiterated that travel restrictions placed without clear public health rationale are not needed and can in fact discourage the transparent sharing of real-time information.
I have been officially sworn in as Minister of State for Youth and Children Affairs, a profound honor to serve our Nation🇺🇬
My deepest gratitude to H.E. President @KagutaMuseveni for this trust. I pledge to champion the future with absolute dedication.
For God and My Country.🙏🏾

“You cannot say that you have Shs158 billion to purchase cars for MPs and then claim that you do not have Shs 28 billion to pay medical interns’ allowances, with the excuse that it would crush the economy. By the way, doctors are rarely in the hospitals. It is the medical interns who are everywhere doing the donkey work,” Archbishop Stephen Kaziimba Mugalu

Today I decided to listen to the entire catalog of Prince Paul Job Kafeero. What a masterclass.
No noise. No meaningless repetition. Every song carries a lesson, a story, or wisdom wrapped in melody. You finish a song having learnt something.
For me, Dippo Nazigala remains unbeaten. It is the kind of music that leaves you reflecting on life rather than searching for painkillers the next morning. 😂
Some artists give you hangovers. Kafeero gives you life lessons.
Uganda truly produced a genius.

You don't have to like your job, but you should respect it.
Job loss has a way of reminding people that what they took for granted was carrying more weight than they realized. Besides, it's often easier to find your next opportunity while you still have your current one.
