Most primary schools do not appropriately prioritise the development of reading fluency (via scaffolded reading practice) and the development of mental arithmetic (via number fact automaticity allied to place value understanding) in their academic curriculum.
Hi everyone,
I’d like to introduce something I’ve been working on for a while.
Stand Strong - a way of bringing progressive strength training to the hospital bedspace in seconds.
@John_Nichols_1@sturdyAlex@Miss_Snuffy It is a successful school, but it doesn’t deliver the curriculum as other schools do. If every school narrowed the subjects they offered, I suspect, there would be great attainment.
New: Michaela head told inspectors the school did not teach music in year nine mainly because pupils “are not really interested in the subject”.

Long read piece on the inspection notes on Michaela Community School, which I FOI’d following its recent report.
Hello - I wrote a new blog about the teaching of whole class reading, which I haven't in a while. It's over 9000 words so quite a read, but I hope the comprehensive nature of it comes across as helpful, rather than patronising. Anyway - hope it's useful!

I've written a new blog which explores 5 key ideas from my new book, Primary Reading Simplified.
I'd really appreciate any retweets.

Late to the party, but thoroughly enjoying (despite an unusual growing sense of anger and disappointment whilst on holiday) ‘How They Broke Britain’ by @mrjamesob on my 5th wedding anniversary as our son sleeps.
@ICT_MrP Now, that is not to say an alternative pension is all bad - individual's financial situation may dictate what they need now and what they can afford for the future. What is important, and needs to be known, is the change to raw £ should TPS or an alternative be pursued.
@ICT_MrP If you were to move to a different provider they could look something like this:
£30,000 salary + (hypothetical) 15% pension contribution = £4,500pa
Multiply this by 30 years = £135,000 pension
A difference of £122,400.
