@holliewood24 I've also know many teachers who are parents dissuade their own children from entering the profession. What better endorsement for doing ANYTHING ELSE than to hear Mom or Dad (or someone else you love) tell you that they wouldn't wish their career on you? #reimagineteacherprep
A9) My first-year mentor was ASTOUNDING, one of the best teachers. If not for her, it's possible I'd have quit. I'd definitely be way worse at my job. 10+ years later, I still lean on her. Every teacher deserves a chance at the kind of relationship & support #reimagineteacherprep
A10) Offer more opportunities for promotion WITHOUT entirely leaving the classroom. Coaching. Mentorship. Leading teams of teachers. Developing curriculum. We have expertise and skills. Let us share them with each other WHILE we do so with our students. #reimagineteacherprep
A8) Travel is one of the best teachers. We can't all afford that, so bringing in teachers with worldly experiences can help students broaden their perspectives & understand more of what the world—and the classroom—has to offer. #reimagineteacherprep
A5) Students aren't stupid. They crunch the numbers on their college bills and prospective careers. If being teacher drives them into the red, they're going to take their talents elsewhere. @RepReginaYoung's idea takes some of that pressure off. #reimagineteacherprep
@RhondaThreet@TeachPlusPA Yes! Burnout is real. I see it among millennials like me, who started their careers with a zeal for serving the public, but whose passion has been exploited. Many of us are still young enough to find employers willing to help us find meaning in our careers, and we're out.
A6) As a PASSHE alum (@KutztownU!), I love this idea. @Passhe_fdn began as teacher colleges. @RepRozzi's bill extends that tradition, supporting PASSHE's core mission: offering affordable higher ed, especially for folks for whom that's proven elusive. #reimagineteacherprep
A3) It's naive to think many folks who didn't feel welcome in their schools will want to sign on for another 30+ years. These will definitely help more students feel more welcome in our classes, upping the odds that they want to return as teachers—and stay. #reimagineteacherprep
A4) It prices out people who'd be STELLAR teachers but can't afford the career. Not just those from marginalized communities, but anyone who wants to secure a spot in the middle class and recognize how difficult their lives could be if they chose this path. #reimagineteacherprep

@CampHillHighSc1 Can’t say I’m surprised. Like I said in my letter of rec for her college apps, I’m ecstatic at the prospect of calling her, even in the broadest sense, a “colleague.” Congrats, Chief!
@MikeSpilly@MatRyanELATeach Great example of the need for obscenity in SOME art. I’m imagining the worst substitutions for that movie:
“They peed on your frilly rug…”
“I’ll pluck your sock for a thousand dollars.”
“Come on, man. I’ve had a long day and I hate the Freys and Eagles!”
@linguistihawk @thereadingzone@NovicSara Update: I just finished the book. Thrilling, innovative, and, in so many ways, eye-opening. Thank you, @linguistihawk, for putting it on my radar.
Thank you, @NovicSara, for this celebration, this warning, this bridge…
@linguistihawk @thereadingzone@NovicSara I’m reading this now, after seeing you mention it earlier, and it looks like a perfect addition to class. I wish I’d have read it in time to make it my AP Lang students’ summer read.
